I'm really worried! I have just literally opened my shop not realising what the deal was! What do I do now? Can I still offer my customers items like tote bags, diaper cases etc.. These are items im working on at the mintue and hope to get up and running in my shop this week. Any advice would be greatly appreicaited! Dionne.

Why not, instead of closing - keep fighting and participating in discussion, debate and forums on the problems with the law - as written - but simply state on your shopfronts that effectively Feb 9th ALL PRODUCTS ARE RECOMMENDED FOR 13 + - with an explanation???

If you sell your products to PARENTS they can still use common sense and make decisions.

This law doesn't just affect businesses, it affects consumer choice.

That might work for some products, BrilliantStar, but the way the law is written, if the CPSIA thinks your items are intended for children under 12 then a disclaimer will not protect you. I would have a hard time convincing anyone that a onesie is not intended for children under 12.

Just because we are closing does not mean that we have quit fighting.

I am closing, but with the stipulation that when (and I do believe it is a matter of when, not if) things change I will reopen. There are some adult items I am considering trying to sell (and I don't mean "adult" items--somehow it sounded like I meant XXX) but I don't think the name birdy legs works well for things targeted to adults. If I have to go that route I will probably open a new shop.

Wait a second...did I miss something(I haven't been around lately)....I thought cottons were 'safe'??? Is it the use of elastic, buttons and/or zippers on kids clothes that would still need testing?
