date on labels??

I searched this forum for hours last night and I couldnt find where I remembered reading about this. Can someone tell me what the requirements are for labels?? Do we HAVE to put a DOM? I would really appreciate it if someone could show me a picture of your labels?????????

I use a code for my date of manufacturer. 09ASONDJFMAMJJ10. Since I generally make one of a kind, I use a fine point permanant fabric marker and underline the year, and the month. For example, if I made something this month, I would underline 09 and D. The code is at the bottom of my "CPSIA label".

2sweetthings: I like your label! I didn't see the date of manufacture, though. Maybe I looked in the wrong place? And how do I list the country my fabrics come from when I've had some of them for at least a dozen or more years and have no idea? Is it still okay to use those fabrics? Hope so. (Thanks.)

I use a fine-tipped marker to write in the month & year for DOM on my labels. Works great.

2sweetthings, your label is nice but so big! My current tags for pet toys are plain satin ribbon with my business name on them. They are fairly small, and I'd like to stay that way. Does anyone know of a supplier that can print all that I need for human toys on a smallish ribbon?

For items intended for children under age 13, CPSIA requires labels with specific items listed on them - one of which is DOM (date of manufacture)

I bought some Label Paper, but they are stickers. I was thinking sticking them on an equally sized muslin overlocked stitch and then atttaching them to my items but I'm not sure.

Anything made after 8/13/2009 must have a label, and date of manufacture (month and year) is required. Rather than searching through the forum threads, however, I would suggest you go to the CPSA website. They have a guide available which contains all this information.
