basic rules about baby items

i am thinking about adding more baby clothes to my shop and being still new to etsy, i was wondering if anyone can share some basic rules about children's clothing(safety) etc. is there a basic checklist of guidelines? if it seems too complicated i may just wind up sticking w/grown up stuff, but i am getting better at sewing baby clothes for my daughter & thought it might be fun to add some baby stuff to my shop. thanks!

Very basic:
-Needs to be CPSIA compliant: exempt materials or manufacturer tested materials documented or you have test on final product. You must keep good records of matierials/items. Some materials/products fall under lead testing guidelines; some under phthalate guidelines; some both.
-Needs to be CPSIA labelled: specific info required on permanent label for most items.
-Fabric and similar usually also need FTC-compliant labels for content and care.
-Additional specific rules for small parts warnings and other issues. Toys and jewelry are somewhat different than clothing; paint and coatings have specific rules. And so on...

etsy is a venue only. its up to you to comply with federal state and local laws.

And these laws are relatively new, with specific definitions and policies still being hashed out in Washington D.C. Though it is beginning to stabilize, it has been constantly changing, with few simple, straight answers available, for the past 2 years!
