as requested: Google Shopping banned words

Note that this is not a definitive list. Google does not publish a list! this is compiled by a blogger and has been edited. I have a shop on Artfire (who knows for how much longer, but that is another drama loaded story) and one of the features of listing products is an auto-scan of banned words, which is nice. There are hundreds of offensive words that are banned, but those I am not posting here of course!

There are no banned words in Google...just in Google Base (which is the feed for Google Shopping)

So here are some words to leave out if you want your listing to show up in Google Shopping.

- free (including hyphenated words such as pet-free, smoke-free, hands-free, etc-free) Note: there is debate about this on blogs now, as some folks have been seeing "free" pop up in GS. Websites can ask google to un-flag their banned content thought, so some people with more clout can use words that others cannot.
- sale
- vacation
- travel
- travels
- smoke, smoked, smokey
- champagne
- whiskey
- beer
- tobacco
- cigar
- cigarette
- rum
- rummo
- wine
- vine (supposedly because vine = wine in another language)
- vineyard
- camel (for it being a cig brand)
- brandy
- gin
- Bordeaux
- burgundy
- ale
- hemp (?)
- absinthe
- anime ( however "manga" is allowed)
- strip
- stripper
- adult; including hyphenated words such as adult-size
- sexy
- butt
- sex (Unisex has frequently been flagged and banned!)
- affair
- chick
- sensual
- gun
- offensive language
- knife/knives
- nude
- postage (or postage stamp)
- collecting (collectible and collect are okay)
- thorny
- precious metal
- muse
- corsage
- Z (as a stand alone letter)
- double @ (i.e: L@@K, B@@BS)
- fireworks
- bank
- FDA

Re: as requested: Google Shopping banned words

those will still show up in Google and on Etsy, they just won't show up in Google Shopping. anything that is somehow associated with a drug is going to be flagged...and yes, I know hemp fiber cannot in anyway be used as a drug. It has to do with federal and state obscenity and protection-of-minors laws that Google is trying to abide by I am sure.

Re: as requested: Google Shopping banned words

My brand name is TheVineyardPlanter. Is etsy suggesting me to change my shop name.? As ‘vineyard’ is a banned word?
