? about using a Sharpie Rub-A- Dub pen for tracking and batch/run numbers

Does anyone have any information about the use of a sharpie Rub-A -Dub pen on labels to mark batch numbers and so forth? The pen is supposed to be wash/dry/dry clean safe. Just wondering if it is compliant with CPSA for marking items?

From the FAQ on tracking labels from the CPSC website:

Must the tracking label be tested and certified in a Children’s Product
Certificate?

No. The physical tracking label does not need to be tested by a CPSC-accepted
laboratory; nor does it need to be included in the Children’s Product
Certificate. The tracking label must, however, comply with lead content
requirements for children’s products.

You don't need batch numbers unless you are making lots and lots of identical items.

I would think that I would need to use the tracking numbers for the headbands, bows, and baby barefoot sandals I make. I do a lot of embroidery as well.

Other then making the FTC and Tracking labels, do you need to register at all with CPSIA to give them your business info or tracking info? or just have the labels on the items and thats it

Katy, hair bow, heads bands, are too small for a permanent tracking label, you are allowed to attach a card with the needed information.

You need to register as a small batch manufacturer, there are several threads on this,
