This letter means nothing....no amendments have been made to the CPSIA Law, NONE. According to this "law" you have to be compliant on February 10th...period....you need to have all your "third party testing" certifications by August 14th. NOTHING HAS CHANGED NO MATTER HOW MUCH WE WANT IT TO HAVE CHANGED.
It doesn't matter if you have letters from Manufacturers saying their stuff is safe THERE IS NO OPTION FOR COMPONENT TESTING IN THIS LAW. I don't care if you have 100 letters, they don't matter! There is NO wording in this law that says if you have them you are "safe" or "in compliance". And it doesn't matter if there is no lead in fabrics or yarns, that's NOT the way this law is written! The law is not one thing for one person and something different for someone else.
A letter here, a news story there, a comment by someone "in authority" over there has NOT changed anything. The law is the law, and until the government officially amends it, or freezes it, or re-writes it, it is what it is.....please everyone, please stop reading into these things that which we all so much want to hear.
Instead of constantly being in these threads trying to figure out how to find a loophole or trying to figure out what they "really meant" when they said something, write to those that will listen, that's all we can do at this time. Keep hammering away at those that wrote this law and at those that have the power to change it. It will be a much better use of our time....
