I'm curious- if all potential enforcement resources were instead put to work to create programs to help educate and encourage compliance with regulations, how many of us would be interested in participating?
It seems that we already care about product safety- what we lack is eduction on the subject, and it isn't easy to piece together on a grass roots level.
