Re: What are you including on your label??

Beyond the CPSIA tracking labels you may want to check with the FTC about any other labels your products maybe required to have. You may also want to get the answer in writing (from the CPSC or the FTC) if you are able to legally combine the 2 different agencies' labeling requirements into 1 label or if they have to be 2 seperate ones.

Re: What are you including on your label??

my products are headwear so they aren't required to have a label with the FTC.
So I just have to worry about the CPSIA!

Re: What are you including on your label??

I don't knit or crochet, & only occassonial sew, but was under the impression once you start to put any part of the FTC information on a sew in or fused on label that you must follow through & include all FTC information, even if the product category is excluded from general labeling.
As for the CPSIA label what you have down in the 1st post seems fine. If you want to include other info personally I would do it on a hang tag or other insert that accompanies the shipment.

Re: What are you including on your label??

Looks good. On mine I abbreviated date of production as DOP also a mistake I made was putting a line next to it. Those labels are so small trying to write a date in that small a space is no fun.

Re: What are you including on your label??

I'm confused. I thought items for 12 and under were only required to be labeled. Are we supposed to be labeling all the items listed in the above? Bedding, towels, etc.

Where your confusion maybe coming from is the government insistence at multiple agencies having a say in the manufacturing regulations of many items.
Pretty much any item that is made with fiber not just fabric falls under the FTC & if the item is made primarily for the use of a child under 13 then the CPSC also has a say on what needs to be done before it can be sold.
If you need both agencies labeling you may also want to get the answer in writing (from the CPSC or the FTC) if you are able to legally combine the 2 different agencies' labeling requirements into 1 label or if they have to be 2 seperate ones.

Here's links for the 2 agencies labeling requirerments:

Re: What are you including on your label??

thanks Jewelrydesignsbyme
Thats a great idea to put wash instructions on a hang tag, instead of on the label.
So maybe i should just put the cpsia information and my logo on a perminent tag.
If i'm paying for tags... i want my shop name or logo on them too!

So if i just put this, do you think i have all the information!!!???

Re: What are you including on your label??

From what I've seen at the CPSIA's website thats pretty much all of what us crafters and artisans need on our tracking labels. Another suggestion I've seen posted was to some how incorporate the ETSY transaction number on the tracking label as an adhoc item number. Easier for some of us like me where my labels will be on the jewelry box than others who have to affix the label directly to the item.

I put 100% cotton on the hat too. That way a mom who loses the hang tag can still use common sense to figure out how to clean it.

Re: What are you including on your label??

According to the ftc laws you need to put a permanent label on a doily. Who does that?

----

Items made before the law went into effect (Aug. 14th, 2009) do not have to be labeled. All items made after this date are supposed to be labeled with company name, location & date of manufacture. Hope that answers your question!
