working on an article about the tracking labels... but this is interesting:

Are tracking labels required on domestically made products or are they only required for imported products?

Tracking labels are required for all children’s products manufactured one year after enactment of the CPSIA (August 14, 2009) regardless of whether they are domestic or imported products.

so, there's a year grace period?

Re: Tracking Labels... [nitty gritty]

I am going to deal with all this right after Christmas. I don't know how I would ever keep track of every used sweater that comes into this place and gets converted. Maybe that is not necessary.

You really can't wait until after Christmas, labels need to be on anything you make after Aug 14 2009.

True - that's why I've stopped making any more new kids' stuff entirely. Once the holidays are over I'll decide whether I want to be bothered with the labeling thing and dye more kids' stuff or just stop selling kids' things entirely after the holidays. (It's a convenient deadline for me personally.)

I know the dyed fabric is exempt from testing, but onesies and hoodies come with snaps and zippers and I can't get around that, and I have enough other stuff going on in my life - this isn't my "day job" - that I'll burn myself out again trying to work out the devil in the details. :-(

Re: Tracking Labels... [nitty gritty]

I am wondering if anyone has a suugestion of an Etsian that makes good inexpensive embroidered labels. I am ready to just purchase some but not sure of a good reliable Etsy shop

Re: Tracking Labels... [nitty gritty]

ScrapHappie, I'm interested in the answer, too. I would rather buy here, but have also been looking into the embroidered labels from www.namemaker.com

Anyone ever purchased from namemaker? If so, would you please share a picture of what you purchased. I'm trying to imagine what all of this information would look like on a folded tag that would be stitched into a seam.
