Tracking Label Stamp?

I've been reading the forums for labeling options and hadn't seen anyone mention this. Is this an option? You'd still have to write in your date/batch, but you could have your name and location and stamp directly on the product, What do you think, would that look okay?

Re: Tracking Label Stamp?

I've thought about using a stamp on fabric....but have never considered puting it direction on the item. I'm not sure it would work for my items, but if you could do it....that would sure save the extra step of stitching it in place.

Let us know how that works out for you.

Re: Tracking Label Stamp?

Thanks fayemalone - I haven't been able to find it anywhere in the forums. Maybe you could suggest some links or something helpful?

At this point, I'm thinking of handmaking each tag with a fabric pen and a coordinating fabric - obviously this wouldn't be so great for those who make a large number of items. But this way I can custom make each tag for the item - I'll just have to have really tidy handwriting! :)

Re: Tracking Label Stamp?

You have options for labeling, you can order fabric tags from someone and write in the date with a permanant fabric pen with a micro point and sew into a seam.

You can order a stamp and stamp it on the product, depending on the product this may not be asthetically the best option, and you would have to be be sure the ink in the stamp pad was permanant and safe.

Some people are producing their own on their printers using inkjet computer fabric you can buy at a joanns. If your item is too small for a sewn in label, you are okay with using a stamp or a sticker with the required info and attaching it to the packaging. This works for jewelry, hairbows, booties, stuff like that.

If you are making fabric items, you need to be also concerned with the FTC labeling that has to do with washing, fabric/fiber content and where the country the fibers came from. The FTC regs are older, and should have already been on fabric products.

So far it has been left to us to do what we need to do to comply based on whatever product we make. So whatever works for you, and you may need to use a combination of label types to get the job done.

Re: Tracking Label Stamp?

Wilsons I had a stamp made that had all the info required, but left area's blank so I could write in individual info. I registered with the FTC for free and got a RN# to add to my label. The fabric I got came from Joanns-they were out of the actual fabric labels and one of the ladies took me to the curtain section and got me fixed up with some of the pleating tape. It washes and hold the print from the stamp.
