So what do we do with all our stuff??

Do I mark down prices of the stuff in my store? And what about all the fabric, etc? I'm so upset that I spent the $$ on this stuff and I can't use it. Talk about a loss.
What are you doing with all your baby items/supplies?

might be worth hanging on and waiting to see how it pans out?

or have a sale, like lots of others.

REally I have a very strong feeling this law isn't going to be around very long at all. not even to go into effect. Join the fight to get it repealed, write your reps and pres Obama

Re: So what do we do with all our stuff??

I've written a tons of letters... just got one back from Senator Bob Corker who says he supports the law fully. I'm not surprised - I detest that man... anyway - if it does pan out, I don't want to be stuck with everything - I can always make more... I guess I'm more worried about my supplies.

Re: So what do we do with all our stuff??

Just hang in there one man isn't going to make this law stay in place. Have you also written to pres Obama? I have, he is the one that will make this law go away as he understands better what it will do to our already bad economy

Re: So what do we do with all our stuff??

I have so much waiting to photograph and list...

Let's just wait and see what happens - I truly believe that this law will be changed.

We are now in the top 10 issues on Obama's web site!

Re: So what do we do with all our stuff??

Any stock I have left after Feb 9th I will be giving to my girls. Any supplies are things I can use for other types of products so I won't lose anything on those.

I am waiting it out. Still sewing as usual. If this law sticks I will be gifting which will still warm my heart just not my pocketbook.

Re: So what do we do with all our stuff??

I don't have kids yet and I LOVE some of the items on this site... it makes me so sad to know in two years I may not be able to purchase the adorable things here... I, for one, will shop the children's handmade black market.... I keep meaning to start compiling a list of sellers who have things I adore and contact them and get email addresses or something "just in case". But that idea is a little overwhelming... Not to mention, I don't know what I'll actually want or need in two years...

I am not reducing prices. Still selling.

I truly believe it is worth hanging on to for now.

This law is so ridiculous. It will meet with pressure for change.

I think things will get worked out.

But the supplies...I think you can still sell the supplies. They don't "turn toxic" until you make them into something for a child.

Re: So what do we do with all our stuff??

I am selling what I can -- on sale -- to move out the door before Feb. 10th.

Whatever is left at that point will be taken down from my shop and saved to give to friends and family. My thousands and thousands of dollars' worth of supplies will have to be used in items that won't fall under this law. It will be like starting all over again.

Re: So what do we do with all our stuff??

I know that a lot of people are pinning their hopes on President Obama...But I want to draw your attention to something you may not have noticed.

Out of 107 sponsors of this bill (actually 1 sponsor, 108 co-sponsors) 92% are Democrats. Put another way...99 out of 107. Is this their version of "hope" and "change"? I'm not feeling overly confident that he would break with such a strong party effort.

Re: So what do we do with all our stuff??

I'm going to give whatever doesn't sell to family and friends as gifts. I won't stop making Gubs ... I just won't be able to sell them ... I bet my house is completely full within two years' time.

Re: So what do we do with all our stuff??

lol Gub! That's why I started selling to begin with...Because there were only so many babies in my life and about 200 times that many blankies/baby goodies piling up! What WILL I do about my sewing habit? :)

I'm with you, Whimbrella...I'll have to find a way to redirect.

Re: So what do we do with all our stuff??

If we need to get rid of any supplies that we can't use we need to package them up and send them to the lawmakers and let them decide what to do with them. Just don't put a return address on them.

Re: So what do we do with all our stuff??

Continue business as usual, we're gaining momentum and I'm confident that things WILL change. Matter of fact I just ordered some new yarn this morning myself, if they want a "reasonable testing program" I'll just continue buying US made yarns as I've always done. The website never did get back to me about certifications so I didn't bother asking for them.

One of the things I'm planning on doing is adding a link in my profile/shop policies to the PDF from the National Textile Association that I found on the CPSC website, prefacing it with "Concerned about lead in children's products? Read this!"

It still really pisses me off that NTA told them back in MAY that textiles did not pose a significant thread and yet they're still making us test....

Re: So what do we do with all our stuff??

Can't we just make the listings "not intended for children under 12"?

wink, wink.

There might be a way around this?
