Question about cotton and wool products

Ok, I know that wool and cotton is okay..undyed of course. Does anyone know if you still have to have certificates on file that says that the components are 100% undyed wool/cotton or will the labels from the yarn package suffice?

Re: Question about cotton and wool products

it's not official that we can use undyed wools and cottons yet. it was a proposal. so......until that's official, we still aren't cool with the cpsia.

I still think it stinks to be required to have it tested!

I'm hoping that food-grade dyes might be ok too. A lot more work, but dyeing wool can be fun!

Re: Question about cotton and wool products

No but seriously, why have it tested if it's very clear that nothing's in it but undyed cotton/wool?

It would be nice if they could explain that one.

Re: Question about cotton and wool products

I've been wondering... why can't small businesses that can't afford testing simply put a disclaimer on the labeling along the lines of "this product has not been tested for use by children under the age of 12" and let it go at that? Or is the CPSIA determined that parents and common sense are not to be trusted ever, at all?
Only children under 3 typically chew/put things in their mouth (excepting fingernails), so why the "under 12" rule anyway?
