Please help me understand!

Okay, so I understand why this law is in effect, but I use ribbon and tights to make my headbands and clippies. How in the world do I find out if the items I use to make my products are tested and safe for children under 12?? Do I just ignore this and see what happens? What is everyone else doing?

You are considered the manufacturer of your items, components are not tested the manufacturer (you) must test the finished products.

I think the bottom line may be what Etsy will do with shops who are in violation of this law..I suggest at this point you educate yourself by checking some of the links at the bottom of the last post in the linked forum. You will need this information to make an informed decision about your shop.

Hang in there BlessedMommyof1. A lot of people are working to get amendments that will allow us to stay in business.
What you can do for now is read a lot - try and stay informed, and write to your representatives in Congress asking for changes.

I've been reading on this for days and it seems like there's a lot of hearsay and guessing going on. The CPSC (or whatever) website is a little technical for me, so I'm trying to find all I can about this.
