MotherMary, I couldn't have said it better myself! (Gee... I hope I wasn't the previous poster you mentioned...)
I will take issue with a previous poster as well. I have read your comments in many threads over the course of the last few months. While I have agreed with many, and I certainly appreciate (and at times envy) the positive attitude you have about this, I disagree with the insinuation that the President has too many, more important things to deal with. The fact is is that this IS about the economy. To fix the CPSIA and keep small businesses going will help stimulate the economy. A humungous spending bill that puts so little thought and so much money out there rather than stopping, breathing and thinking... well, it won't help. Let businesses work without hamstringing them. Particularly in an instance like this where there is no public harm that can come of helping small businesses. This isn't about party, it's about helping people remain viable.
While I know we crafters (or other small businesses) won't be considered much in the minds of the Pres. and Congress, but to allow small businesses to thrive will allow the economy to begin to rebuild. It is from business, not government, that this will happen. Look back to Reagan (I was no fan of his at the time, mind you). He entered office at a very similar economic point; rather than grow government, he took more of a hands off approach and our economic growth was, I believe 12% over his eight years in office. So far, all we've gotten in the last six weeks is fleeced.
*End of rant* (and, obviously, my credibility when I say no more politics...)
*backing away slowly*
