After spending a lot of time these past few weeks pouring over these message boards and various blogs, I finally took the leap and made my own labels. Just wanted to share how I did it, and give thanks to those that previously posted helpful tips!

Hope to save someone else the trouble of figuring this out!!!

Re: New DIY label

Thanks for the info! I love placing the dot under the month/year - will look so much neater than writing in the date on a line!

Re: New DIY label

Okay... so I {ATTEMPTED} the freezer paper/printing directly onto twill tape idea... and it came out SOOO blurry! I tried several options and different printer settings. I'd love to hear from others that had success with this technique... but for me, it didn't work out. For now, I'll just continue the extra step of ironing on my labels to ribbon. - I kinda think cutting the freezer paper, lining up the ribbon exactly, ironing it on to the freezer paper took more time that my method! Just my opinion!

Re: New DIY label

I read your blog post again. I am more of a label reader than I used to be so I went to find ribbon to use for labeling. I am even understanding those laundry symbols on labels better these days.

I had forgotten how you got your printing onto the ribbon, thus the need to re-read your post. I just happen to have iron on sheets here at the house so now its time to get busy and test it all for myself. (I'm so excited!)
Thanks for sharing with us. We'll all get through this better together....of that I'm convinced.

Re: New DIY label

I was so confused about how to go about making labels. After reading your blog, I actually feel so relieved. Thanks for making it so clear to the rest of us how easy it really can be. Even listing all your supplies! Im going out to buy everything! Thanks so much from a fellow Long Islander!

Re: New DIY label

One question. How did you do this without melting the ribbon? (I guess you know what I did this morning--melted the ribbon)

Re: New DIY label

Sweet success! I did it right this time. And it looks fantastic! Just as good as the ones in the stores. CurlyQ you had the best way of them all. It just took me a couple of tries to perfect the technique. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
