NEW Letter from Congressmen to CPSC

Basically it's telling them to get busy and address the main issues of this bill- testing, books, thrift stores, and offering more guidance.

It's a good read!

I LOVE this letter! Now if the CPSC would just DO what the House is suggesting, a great many of us would be off the hook. Crossing fingers AND toes!!! :-)

Awesome! Item #2 on Page 3 would apply to about 95% of my shop, hopefully they'll get it clarified soon.

Re: NEW Letter from Congressmen to CPSC

this is great, hopefully, some decisions will be made quickly. I am getting frustrated not knowing what is going on. Although, the metal snaps on the bibs and onesies I use may be an issue. I would think since they are sold in the US they would have to be tested by the manufacturer. If I only add fabric and thread to them, maybe i will be okay. I should be able to get around that on my doll outfits too, they do not have any painted or metal parts on them.

I didn't have any trouble opening the link, BabesNTots. I'd try again later.

This feels a little hopeful, at least.

Re: NEW Letter from Congressmen to CPSC

I still don't get the painted item thing. Are they saying that just because I paint my items that I have to have it tested? That is ridiculous! On September 2, 1977 the CPSC banned lead in all paint used around children in the U.S. The put into force the ASTM D 4236 to ensure paint is free of lead. Now even their own testing isn't good enough. I just don't get it.

Re: NEW Letter from Congressmen to CPSC

I saw this earlier today and about fell out of my chair - the co-author of this letter - Bobby Rush - wrote the freaking law and sponsored it in the house!?!??!?!?

are you kidding me! Here...let me write a piece of legislation then pass it off to the regulatory body.....then fire off a stern letter to the regulatory body about how they need to clarify the law yada yada yada! Is this how we run our government!!!

Crazy!

Maybe Mr. Rush was getting a little tired of tripping over all those packages of "about-to-be-hazardous-goods" sent to him by all those horrible etsy/mommy bloggers.
