Materials Certificates

I am feeling really defeated today and almost ready to give up on this. So I am really hoping someone can help me...

I have read that I need to get 'certificates' and 'datasheets' for my fabric and trims used in my toy... but everything I am reading is too vague... what is the certificate called? Is it just to show what the fabric/trim is made of? is it supposed to show it is safe for fire? chemically safe?... I can't find the answer.

A couple of my suppliers said they have no certificates and don't know what I am asking for.

Can you send me a picture or more information on what you are wanting to make. I don't see toys in your shop.

In the USA most fabrics are exempt from lead testing as modern fabric printing methods do not impart lead into fabric. Flammability is an issue, but fabric by weight per sq. yard can be exempt. Raised surface fabrics may need testing, and certain fabrics by fiber content may also be exempt. Trims are generally exempt from lead testing, depending on content. If the toys are stuffed, the stuffing may have to be tested. Now that's to sell to the USA.

You will need to check British standards, and EU standards.
