Let's put together a timeline...hash out the requirements

Feb10-

We need to issue GCCs for our products and keep them on file. A GCC needs to be sent along with wholesale orders (one GCC per product or one per shipment?? and we don't need to send these along with orders where we are the retailer, right?)

We need to insure our products are compliant through either third party testing or a reasonable testing program.

Aug 14-

We need to insure our products are compliant through third party testing only.

Let's see, we also need the dates for phthalate testing requirements, permanent labeling requirements. Anything else?

tracking labels are also August 14, 2009:

"Tracking labels are required for all children’s products manufactured one year after enactment of the CPSIA (August 14, 2009) regardless of whether they are domestic or imported products."

I can't find the phthalate and labeling stuff right now...and I have to go be productive lol.

If someone else hasn't added it I'll add it later when I find the dates and specifics.

phthalates are Feb 10, 2009:

"When does the phthalates ban go into effect for children’s toys and child care articles and does it apply to inventory in existence on February 10, 2009?

On February 10, 2009, DEHP, DBP, and BBP are permanently banned, and DINP, DIDP, and DnOP are banned on an interim basis, for children’s toys or child care articles as defined in section 108 of the CPSIA. The ban on the six specified phthalates in section 108 of the CPSIA only applies to products that are manufactured on or after February 10, 2009. For more information see the Office of General Counsel Advisory Opinion (http://www.cpsc.gov/library/foia/advisory/320.pdf)."

The CPSIA has a PDF of the time line, http://www.cpsc.gov/about/cpsia/rulemaking.pdf . Please note that certain product lines, furniture, jewelry and feeding items for example, have different implimentation dates for certain tests and ways of testing that are under the "Federal Register Notices and Other Requests for Comments and Information" notices at the general CPSIA page http://cpsc.gov/about/cpsia/cpsia.html#timetable
