Just spotted this on the list of recalls. It's from 2007, but it appears that hats with ties can be considered an entrapment / stangulation hazard. Hoodies with drawstrings are the #1 recalled items.
This seems logical, but if a parent chooses to do so the danger of it usually comes when the child is not being "monitored". It is sad that these accidents occur.
I quess where I see a potential problem is the hats with the real long braids. Could the braid fall into the spokes of a stroller? Could they get caught in the door of a school bus? In a slide? Could the braid get wrapped around the neck of a baby?
Indeed that is definitely different :O) The ones that I have seen with those super long ties are usually intended as photography props, but it is likely that someone will simply want to use them. *shrugs* there is so many ifs in this.
