I've been looking at several methods to create my own CPSIA tracking labels. I found most of the helpful info here in these forums and I've tweaked some of the ideas to create a very easy printable label, which I can sew into the seam of my stuffed toys. Just print, cut and sew them in. I've posted full instructions here http://sockmonkey.shopping.officelive.com/labels.aspx and I've also included a template for the labels to make it easier. These are 100% cotton labels printed with ink jet (CMYK) ink printer, so they are CPSIA compliant, no lead or pthalates are in them, so no need to have them tested.

Re: Just want to share my CPSIA handmade label instructions

Thanks for this. I am so glad I found this thread. Just printed labels on the cheapest inkjet fabric I could find here in the UK (cost me 12 pounds for 6 sheets, that's almost $20, bl**dy extortion, everything is so expensive, I pay twice the amount for fabric too). I tried to print as many as I could on a sheet but only managed to get 24 on one and the edges do fray which means I'll have to print less on a sheet so I can sew the edges together. Does anyone have a better idea how to deal with fraying edges?

Use pinking shears to cut them apart. Shoot, I pay more than $20 for 6 sheets. and that is in the USA>

Re: Just want to share my CPSIA handmade label instructions

OH no @Faye I saw the comments where people said they paid $3 for large packs of inkjet fabric, thought that was the standard. Sorry to hear it can be dear in the US too.

I have now managed to put all the info on my labels including the CE stuff for the UK and EU, so i only need one label rather than 2. and still managed to get 24 on one sheet and have enough room to sew the edges together. feel so chuffed.

Re: Just want to share my CPSIA handmade label instructions

Hi, I started this thread a while back and forgot about it. I've since changed websites and domain names etc. I was reminded the other day of this thread and so wanted to leave the new page url here for you guys; http://lalidollnursery.files.wordpress.com/2013/04/toylabels.pdf

The tutorial I currently have up is a bit different than the original where I simply printed the labels out onto printable fabric. It's the same idea, only on this tutorial, I'm printing onto t-shirt transfer and then ironing onto bias tape.
