Is this warning Ok?

This is warning I have posted in my policies. I don't know much about consumer product safety and need to do some homework on them but I wanted to put this in does it sound good?

My jewelry is not intended for small children. It consists of many small parts and may present a choking hazard, Please do not purchase for wee ones. Thank you.

Re: Is this warning Ok?

I would specify "wee" ones, some parents might feel that your product is ok for their child but you might not. Ultimately it's the parents fault if anything were to happen, but I would specify an age range just to cover yourself and your shop.

Re: Is this warning Ok?

I don`t see a point of writing something what`s obvious and find it a bit stupid, but I`m not from US, so maybe just have a different taste.

Re: Is this warning Ok?

Apparently in the U.S. we are too stupid to figure it out for ourselves and so we are able to sue people when we do something stupid.

Re: Is this warning Ok?

Re: Is this warning Ok?

Your jewelry does not appear to marketed towards children 12 & under, so you are probably okay. However, this wording will not make you CPSIA compliant. To be clearer, you could say "Not intended for children 12 or under".

Re: Is this warning Ok?

I've noticed alot of craft companies are labeling 14 and under - if it makes any difference.

Re: Is this warning Ok?

I am no expert by any means, but I would specify at least 12 and under, since that is the age for all CPSIA laws. Good luck and beautiful shop, btw! :)

Re: Is this warning Ok?

Zivile- unfortunately the US is a country full of idiots who do not know that plastic bags are not toys for children, coffee is hot, and small parts are not meant to be played with or chewed on by our children so we need to label everything to protect ourselves from being sued. It's sad but true.
To everyone else I agree 12 and under sounds appropriate I should still look into it just to be sure :) Thanks

Re: Is this warning Ok?

Robynesque, the choking issue is a different law than the CPSIA law that says everything (almost) either made for or appeals to children under the age of 12 must be tested for lead content. (Not sure if that's what you're asking about, but since you posted your question in the CPSIA forum I'm replying to that.)

Your jewelry is beautiful, and something my 5 yr old granddaughter would think is perfect for her mama or grammy, but wouldn't necessarily appeal to her as a 5 year old, kwim. I think you're fine as far as the CPSIA law is concerned ... but that's just my opinion (heaven only knows how that CPSIA law will change by tomorrow).

Re: Is this warning Ok?

Since I doubt you have a led content issue. I would say 6 and up. Because I do notice that your necklaces look a little like tasty candy (I have a 2 year old and he would so try to eat that! lol) which may be a problem for little little kids.

Re: Is this warning Ok?

I'm surprised that CPSIA hasn't added car keys to the list of stuff that needs to be tested. Those were always a favorite chew toy of both my kids and granddaughter! LOL

Re: Is this warning Ok?

So do labels even really protect us? Mine says

Warning ~ Choking Hazard: Supervise small children and pets at all times. Pieces are very small and can detach.

lol

Re: Is this warning Ok?

Here is a link to a choking hazard label. It it a yellow label, with an exclamation point in the inside of it. CHOKING HAZARD-Small Parts-not for children under 3.
