Ok, so I am in the process of opening my hair bow shop. I have filed my LLC, registered as a small batch manufacturer, devised a tracking system for my products and I'm in the process of sourcing materials that are CPSIA compliant.
Some of the questions I had were:
1. Some of the fabric trim that I use to make accessories says 60% metallic, 40% rayon. Is this actual metal that would require lead testing? And if so, does anyone have a basic idea of what testing costs? Here is an example of what I'm referring to in regards to "fabric trim". The image pictured below shows the trim in white, but it also comes in gold and silver and those are called "metallic" in the item title.

I was also wanting to use colored leather to make bows, but if I understand correctly, while plain, natural leather would be fine to use, any leather that has been dyed/painted a color or a metallic color would need testing (for the surface paint/coating). Correct?
3. I was looking into glitter felt and also "metallic" felt. The composition of the metallic felt is "Content: 35% wool 65% rayon with Metallic overlay". Would the metallic overlay be considered a dye or an actual metal?
Thanks in advance. This has me all confused.
