I have tested my items and am lead free - how am I supposed to state this in my shop? Do I need to mention it or just be able to provide the information if asked? Just curious.
all those that use textiles, yarn, material, ribbon, sewing threads, we are safe, their are letters from the manufactures out their to the cpsia stating that they have tested and meet way below the standards.
for now, we have till feb 10, 2010, and if we can at that time use the letters that they have written with the tests to show that they come within range of what the cpsia is asking then we are ok, so you can sew, knit and so on.
if you use snaps, buckles, zippers, those need to be tested, but again you have till 2010 and within that time i am sure if they are not already within the guidelines, they will be.
spoiledsweet, polyester (it was pointed out to me yesterday) is actually a type of plastic. I think this is a very gray area; it seems to have been deemed okay in the lead press release, but I don't know regarding the phthalates issue.
littlethings - velcro is 100% nylon as far as I know. I received a MSDS from the company I buy my hook and loop from stating that it has been tested and passed.... it's not "velcro" proper.
