Has anyone thought of boycotting yet?

LET'S BOYCOTT FOR 1 WEEK! They will see what this will do to the economy when no one buys children's products for a week, heck we could go longer. Those who need pampers such as myself, just buy the big box if you can to last a while. It worked for the bus riders all over the country when they didn't tide the bus for months, hail or high water. They will get a small taste of what will happen and the effects of it. I say we can still support our fellow estyans, but no department store or factory goods.

Hmmm, good idea, but think about the number of non-etsians who dont know about the law yet & will continue to buy from these big stores, Im afraid that the, in reality, small number of us who would do that, wouldnt make a noticable enough dent to make that much of an impact in the grand scheme of things.
Sorry to be a kill joy, but there are just too many of them & not enough of us :(

We could spread the work, we are really good at doing that. Maybe if we had a month to get the word out. Even if 1/3 of people did this in their own towns we would get noticed. And picketing at the capitals of each state all that week. It would get attention from media. Especially if people knew what we were doing.

This kind of thing never works because not enough people get on board. Also, what does boycotting and punishing manufacturers have to do with the CPSIA laws? So the manufacturers should pay for the lawmakers decisions? I don't think that makes any sense.

Getting the word out for at least 101 million people to participate?

I'm all for boycotting the govt. If you want to do that in a sense, there are plenty of state "tea parties" in the works for April and May. The problem is the govt.

I agree with archivia that the manufacturers should not be punished, but at the same time, it would be for a good cause and the manufacturers would probably be grateful that a week long boycott saved their businesses. I would rather loose a week of sales than have to pay for it later.

Word travels so fast over the web...If word can travel about the tax-free holidays so fast, we can organize a boycott of the same magnitude.

TangleEvans I'm with you!! My husband has been saying sopmething similar ever since gas went so high. If everyone only used their car for essential purposes ie work, grocery shopping gas prices would have fallen much faster. I'm in on the no shopping boycott. I think I have enough craft supplies for a week. lol

I'm with Archivia. We need to be smart about this, and boycotting our fellow businessmen and women will only hurt us.

I like PocketShop's idea. Go to the Tea Parties, and have a "stop CPSIA" sign waving high. Also, do your best to support these Tea Parties, as they are getting very little press by the media. The government needs to hear us now!

It's been hard enough just getting the word out about the CPSIA. I think it would be very difficult to organize a boycott that would make any lasting statement.

I think organized protest is a much better idea with with a more sound intent. Boycott only makes sense if you are boycotting against a specific companies or industries practices. This has to do with government.
