Fire Danger labeling

I have two products I would like to sell but I'm unsure as to whether it would be a good idea. One is a votive glass doily - a tatted doily with a circle in the middle to fit a votive glass. The other is called a candle-stick frill - again a piece of tatted lace that fits around the base of a taper candle to cover up and decorate of the candle stick. Neither products are fire-proof nor fire-retardent. In the case of the candlestick frill, it is conceivable an unattended candle could burn all the way down and catch the frill on fire. In the case of the votive glass doily, someone could put a votive candle directly on the doily (rather than in a votive glass) and again if unattended catch the doily on fire. Is a warning in the product listing about these hazards sufficient to protect the seller from liablity? Is there standard wording that is required in such instances? I'd appreciate any feedback anyone could give me.

Thank you and Happy Holidays.

Re: Fire Danger labeling

I have no idea. What if you put that it is recommended that they are for decorative use only? I'd like to see them.

Re: Fire Danger labeling

I think a doily that's just a doily would be fine, people can decide for themselves whether to set a glass votive on it. Probably a lot of people do that, it seems safe enough. (Hopefully they wouldn't set the candle directly on it though.) But I'd be leery of advertising one specifically for that purpose, & the one that goes on the candlestick sounds scarier. (Maybe I'm not picturing it right?)

But warning or not, I wouldn't buy a product that isn't fire-proof or fire retardant to use with another product that's only real purpose is to be set on fire. :-)

maybe Google a few things like:
code of federal regulations candle accessory
ASTM standard fire safety

example- the ASTM cautionary labeling standard for candles requires a label warning consumers to keep candles away from things that can catch fire.
