Fabric Label size

Ok lots of labeling threads but didn't see the size of the label or text used mentioned anywhere
So here is my question!
What is the size of your fabric labels u use? What is the min space needed to get all the needed info on there! see all sorts of info about buying them but I want to print my own but don't want to waste space but want to make sure I'm getting all I can out of my space.
I mean really how much space does a webpage link take to print, I'm guessing at least an inch. I'ld want to print www.moescrochet.etsy.com
or since I do own my domain I can get by with just www.moescrochet.com so that's not real long but idk how big a readable print would make that
Also what are fonts and sizes people are using? I want them to be easy to read, but being visually impared myself just going on my own judgement would make the tags oh about a foot by a foot LOL

So far I haven't needed the fabric tags but want to actually get my washcloths labeled and want to make wider headbands and things that would be able to hold an actual label.

It does not mention a required size, just that it is legible and visible.
Once the FTC site is back up it may be a good idea to follow their guide lines for label sizing.

Congress modified the requirement for tracking labels with the phrase “to the extent practicable,” recognizing that it may not be practical for permanent distinguishing marks to be printed on small toys and other small products that are manufactured and shipped without individual packaging. In those situations, the package or carton in which the products are shipped to the retailer should be marked.

Hats, booties, mittens would be exempt from a sewn in label, but the tracking info must be sent with it so if you do this - they could really be any size for such items.

I will be using the 8 to 10 pt font size with something like Times New Roman because I think it is easier to read. If you get much smaller than 8 pt font it is difficult to read. This would make my label about 1 3/4" in one direction.

Thanks so much for the link, but I was just looking for what people have used that works... I know there is no size requirement other then the info all needs to be ther but I wonder how much actual space that takes...

I am very interested in the www.spoonflower.com link I found in another thread. From what I guessed for shipping I could get 250+ labels made, think that was for 2x3 for less then $.10 each, but no idea if there ink is compliant... Sent them a message so hope to hear back! If so I will probably do that as it will give me a lot of tracking lables for not a lot of $ and then I can print care and size labels myself as would not need as high qty of those. And omg $.10- each is so way better then anything I have seen here or whatever per tag! and larger! I've seen like 300 but they are like 1x.5? what could I get on that lol.

For items that don't need a fabric tag I just print on a note card or attach info to my biz card and punch a hole and attach with access string. Also got address labels that I plan on sticking to zip top bags for items that can't hold an actual fabric tag, but really if I can get testing info or excempt info I will put those spoonflower labels on EVERYTHING as it will really help people refind me :) and not add anything really to cost...

I love the notecard idea!
It might be a cool idea to use the 0.10 spoonflower labels in a way that you can hole punch them and tie it onto the items that are too small to have them sewn on just as an added touch - you have inspired me!

Let me see if I can find the link with the size that another gal used...

I cannot find it... I know that there is someone who has formatted their labels in word... I remember reading that... I hope that they see this post and can provide "proven" assistance.

ooh didn't even think of the fabric tag for the other things... Love brain storming out loud.
Still haven't heard back from spoonflower to know if their ink is exempt or tested. They probably don't even know what I'm tlaking about lol, but it's only been what not even 24 hrs since I emailed them, Just hoping I wrote my email down right LOL. I have caught myself trying to do the wrong @ place b4

Heard back! from spoon flower.
Of course they told me from their understanding fabric is exempt from testing, it's hard to get people to understand it's not the fabric but the die/inks they use on it that needs to be checked,
But they did tell me that thier ink is an industrial Ink Jet ink, so can we just assume that is covered? under the same exemption for home ink jet ink... Well I am going too and when I get a min I'm going to make up my labels and order me some tags :) of course will still have to deal with the cut and so forth myself but just have a nice large bulk order will come so nady. Thinking of doing the DOM as something like

U think that will be good enough? I've even tossed around with just using the season as I really wont be having my husband mess with tags more then once a quarter at least for now... but thought just the letter of the month would be harder to read as there are too many that start with the same letter. I'm not going to be making enough to specify an actual month in each tag... That's what I seen done on things I've gotten for my kids but really... those are people making several 100's in a batch to thusands I'm doing 1 at a time.

I have to admit I am not registered yet as it wasn't very screen reader friendly and am going to have to have help to do it, but I don't think their was any ease in the tagging rules with the new changes for this year right.
I was kinda confused on how it was suppose to help any small man out as it sounded like most things still required the testing no matter if u were registered or not...
