No,I don't think so...I'm pretty sure that you would have to know that the dye used is CPSIA certified...

I'm going to check the CPSIA website and see if I can find out more...hopefully JewelryDesignsbyMe will chime in here!

Re: Dyed Feather Boa's

Feathers (chocking hazard) + mystery dye (probably toxic) sounds like a recipe for a veto but I'm certainly not an expert.

I'll be interested to see what the research reveals.

Re: Dyed Feather Boa's

The dye that they get the bright colors with is certainly NOT echo-friendly child-safe vegetable dye. I can guarantee you that.

Re: Dyed Feather Boa's

There's a whole section of dyed feather boas in my local craft store. Next time I'm in there I'll see what it says on the tags.

The tags on mine (bought from Michaels) say not for children under 3...

Owie- I think you're right the bright colored boa's are probably not dyed using vegetable dye.

Re: Dyed Feather Boa's

there's no lead in modern dyes.
it lends no use to the process.

there may be very minor trace amounts, but trace amounts exist in everything.

part of the textile defense was that modern dyes aren't cut with lead anymore.

but, feathers fall under the "natural" products category, and are exempt, only if untreated, because the law hasn't covered every nook and cranny. that stipulation pertains more to wood toys that are painted... and such.

contact the CPSC... if enough of you make noise, it's looked into. i don't know more than that, right now, regarding feathers.
