Dealing with CPSIA? Positive thread.

I am seeing so many questions springing up in the CPSIA threads about what is allowed and what isn't. People unsure about what they are making, or want to make. None of us are totally sure. The CPSC makes adjustments from time to time.

And with these threads are an equal number of responses that just aren't true. We have built up misconceptions in our minds (not intentionally) and they are flooding the threads.

Cease and desist! This thread is for something positive, optimistic, happy, solid, productive, fun!!! We are in business after all. We are caring, intelligent, talented sellers. So, how about sharing something good. An idea, a thought, a hope, a wish. Let this be a place to go when negativity has consumed us and we need a good dose of optimism!!! Something that will lead us down a road to good thoughts and sunshine!!

Re: Dealing with CPSIA? Positive thread.

I will start. For Easter, I filled the hedge that runs down the side of my house with plastic eggs hung from stings. Lots of eggs.

It has been fun. I have done it before. But this year seems different. I have heard little kids squeal. I have heard parents tell the kids not to dare touch them - or - "no, put that back!". But most importantly, I have had strangers, adults walking down the street tell me how much they loved them. And even people in cars (I live on a busy street) tell me how pretty.

In these economic times, I think we all need a little color in our lives. Happy I could do that.

Re: Dealing with CPSIA? Positive thread.

Yesterday on The View, the entire show was devoted to jobs. How to get them, how to keep them, where to find them. One of the options was to open a shop on Etsy. They had some items there that sellers had made. Beautiful items. One was a couple of pieces of Joy's daughter's work.

Just think. You are already there! You have a shop! Get it looking its best. It is time to look up to being profitable. To a new future!

Mother's Day is coming, and I've been binge-dyeing to prepare!!!!

If only my camera would co-operate, perhaps I could do some binge-listing! LOL

Re: Dealing with CPSIA? Positive thread.

I finally found a crocheted flower pattern (To embellish hats) that I can understand and I've been going to town making them up in all kinds of yarns..I'm going to fancy them up with beads and pinbacks and see if I can sell them individually..I'm doing a craft show on the 25th that should be a test.

Re: Dealing with CPSIA? Positive thread.

Etsy was and is so much fun. I've learned so much about business. I love it here. I've seen so many amazing items.

Please read my recent thread though. I don't want to say anything negative in this one. :) I just got really discouraged recently because I'm so paranoid.

Ignorance was bliss when I first opened shop! It was all I could think about and wanted to do. But after coming to the forums and learning about the laws, I wonder if I should even be here anymore!

Please go here and lend me your thoughts...

I'm desparate!

Re: Dealing with CPSIA? Positive thread.

I knitted a Christmas tree yesterday. It was very simple and I'm very pleased with the way it turned out.

I think this has been the earliest I've ever thought about Christmas.

Also I wanted to say Thank You Bobbinalong for always being sane about the CPSIA.

I'm working on a new design. A new animal pull toy. I'm really excited about it. I drew the sketch today! Will it ever get listed? Don't know, don't care. Just enjoying the act of creating.

I just started on a new idea and just love that super-motivated "buzz" you get when you are inspired!

Wow. After days of rain - and I do mean rain - the sun is just coming out. The sky is blue. What a difference it makes. Hope, wherever you are, that you are having a sunny day.

I hope it's sunny today! I have a new line of asian tops or pinafores that I want to take pictures of. I'm so excited to get them listed. I really want to expand into more styles.

Your pictures are so beautiful, HulaMoon. After a drab gray winter, they are welcome sites. Get busy. Get some new products into your shop. Happy selling!
