Date of Manufacture solutions

Hi guys,
I'm interested in what people do to comply with the DOM labelling. I'm only making maybe 40-50 items per month, so having the date printed is potentially going to be difficult (I imagine it'll be hard to get new labels in such a small amount printed each month).
I suppose I could write it on the label, but worried that'll look really scruffy and there won't be room.
Could anyone share if you've had any creative solutions on this point?
Thanks
Vicky

Re: Date of Manufacture solutions

You can use whatever dating code you would like, the exact date is not necessary for small batch manufacturers.

I use 13 JFMAPJJASOND 14 across the bottom of my CPSIA label. before I sew it to the back of the garment with the FTC and size tags, I take a stitch with floss under the year and letter of the month. Easy, neat looking and the labels are good for 2 years.

Re: Date of Manufacture solutions

I use a coding scheme as well which I had included on the back of my woven label:

A B C D E F
1 2 3 4 5 6

I stitch over the letter and number to indicate when it was made. I can get at least 3 years out of this arangement:
A and B are 2012, 1-6 is Jan-Jun (if "A") or 1-6 is Jul-Dec (if "B")
C and D are 2013, numbers are used the same way
E and F are 2014

I can virtually keep using these labels until they are all gone by combining the letters and numbers in any grouping-- so long as I keep track of the numbering scheme! For example, I can then start 2015 as "BC1-6" for 2015 Jan-Jun and "BD1-6" for 2015 July-Dec.
