Children’s Product Certificate (CPC)

Do I write my own certificate? I've spent the day trying to figure this all out. I'm registered as a small-batch manufacturer and thought that was how I received my certificate of compliance.

Re: Children’s Product Certificate (CPC)

You write your own certificate of compliance that you would give to any wholesale accounts. If you are not selling wholesale you do not furnish a cerficate.

Oh...All I really needed to do was to register then? Can I put that I'm registered on my etsy information page.

"CPSIA compliance" can be a selling point. Register, make sure your items are tested/exempt, get your tags in order. Really, the hardest part of the whole thing is tracking down certificates for non-exempt items.

I've decided to only use the items that are exempt. Just a matter of being on top of things when I'm buying fabric. Def a good team to be part of here!

Is there a link to a format for a certificate floating around? I would like to make one as a "just in case" I do go wholesale.

Re: Children’s Product Certificate (CPC)

Where to begin?

You can start at www.cpsc.gov/gettingstarted. You can also find a helpful overview of resources at www.cpsc.gov/desktopguide (pdf). For manufacturers of children’s products, always keep in mind that your goal is to issue a Children’s Product Certificate (CPC) (www.cpsc.gov/cpc) based on passing test results from a CPSC-accepted laboratory. (www.cpsc.gov/labsearch) (You use the model provided above to draft the CPC yourself. You then provide the CPC to your retailers, distributors, and, only upon request, to the government.)
