I'm not sure, but from the bit I c&p'ed it looks like they're going to be focusing mostly on things that have a high risk for problems, which our products don't.

I was just going to say, does this mean eBay is exempt? I have a ton of clothes my kids have outgrown that I'd love to list over there.

Some stores don't even take the stuff off the shelves.
There was a kids folding chair and table set that was on the list a few years ago for recall because it had severed a few tiny little fingers when the chairs collapsed. Anyway...I was in my local Family Dollar and noticed the same folding set on display and a stack of them for sale! I told the manager about the recall and she said they hadn't heard about it. So, I told her I would copy the info and bring it in. I did that the same day and she said that she would make sure the General Manager got the info. Two months later....the set was STILL on display! Who knows how long they had that thing there. Hopefully they didn't sell any..and hopefully there were no injuries, if they did!

I think this is the best news we've gotten so far. At least it will save the option for parents to buy used items while the economy is in the dumper. Eventually these items will come to the end of their usefulness, but this is a responsible way to take care the used inventories.

YourWay, I remember that recall. And our chairs like that left the house immediately after and I won't allow any like that back in again. I STILL saw sets like that being sold!

This is a HUGE step for thrift and consignment stores and all those Mom's who sell their kid's outgrown clothing on ebay. I am SO thankful for this step.

I am still however concerned about how it will effect libraries and school because books STILL aren't exempted. Why make our schools pay more for already expensive books!?

I think it is wonderful news, I have all this stuff a room full to start selling on Ebay and they have just been sitting inthere since I heard about this law.

One of the Co-Sponsors of this Bill is from my own State, sigh, and this morningthe Local news did a story and taped him. Here is the link from our local channel. As a Co-Sponsor he has opted to bear a lot of weight on his shoulders regarding this. He explains exemptions:

Hey, write him, maybe he'll listen to you. He is well known in the Senate, very liberal, and might listen, though it appears he may be sloughing a bit of responsibily onto the CPSIA, and their interpretation of what HE helped co-sponsor. We'll see if his Integrity holds up; as he is one of the creators of this, and part of this whole bee's hive gone awry.
