Let's use this thread to just say a brief word. Our thoughts and wishes. No links, no Twitters, no rants, no nothing. Just a place to say how grateful we are that we live in a country where we have such hope for the future. And where we are able to make changes in our government.

Good for you, Beckyrose. I had a customer, who works for the government, purchase a pair of my patriotic mittens to wear to the Inauguration. Hope I see her.

My daughter and her husband are going to the Swearing-in ceremony. They are so excited, as we all are.

I've never lost hope in America. Presidents come and go, but we the people are the ones who have to create our own opportunities, regardless of which party is in control.

I am soooo excited and overjoyed that this day has come and feel very blessed to witness such a huge day in our nation's history!

I kept my children home from school so that we can watch it together. They're 8 and 6 (almost) and I know they'll remember this always. May the hope and excitement that this day brings last and last and last!!

This is a wonderful day for our country and the world. We truly do have so much to be hopeful for, far beyond the repeal of the CPSIA.

I watching First Lady Obama give Mrs. Bush the gift of a journal and pen for writing her memoirs. Combined with President Obama's wonderful speech, it gave me an idea.

I am going to buy a small journal and a new pen. (No, at my age, I don't need a new pen - but I want one!) On the front of the journal I am going to write "Hope, 2009". And I am going to write in it, not my memoirs, but ways that I can make hope happen. Things that can improve my shop, my life, my grandkids' futures. Things that I feel from day to day. Not a book of complaining, but a book of hope, not a book all about "me". And after awhile, after many pages are written, I am going to reflect back to the beginning and inspire myself to do better, to do more for my family, and more for my country.

Anyone else want to join me? Anyone else want to begin a new chapter of history?

There is such a sense of excitement and joy and hope. May it last and only grow a thousand times. May we all stand as one and remember that though picking up the pieces may take time, it will happen. Through ups and downs and all arounds. Through agreements and arguments and reflective silence. It will happen. It won't be easy, but we as a nation can do this, especially with the inspiration of the history made today.

bobbinalong: That is a FABULOUS idea! I have journals all over the place that need something in them. Why not fill them with Hope?

As I said, it might not always be a smooth road, but hope will give us the means to weather whatever may come.
