Looking on the bright side, that gives us another chance to call our Senators and ask them to co-sponsor and support this reform effort.
Why as an addition to the stimulus bill. That stimulus bill doesn't even have the support to pass right now. If attached to that it may die before it is born.
If it was free standing I would feel much better. By putting it as an amendment to the stimulus in order for it to pass the stimulus bill needs to pass. By calling our Senator's to pass the amendment to the CPSIA we will be also calling to say yes to the stimulus package. I don't agree with much in that bill as it currently stands. It is all a game to them, but it is our lives.
Agree with you lordslivingworld and SugarAndSpice -- listening to pundits on tv right now saying stimulus bill likely to be a bust. I wish he would introduce separate standing amendment to CPSIA. But I'm guessing Sen. DeMint knows more about the likelihood of a separate amendment passing...????
He's probably attaching it to the stimulus as an amendment because they may not be taking any new bills. I'm not sure they are working on anything other than the stimulus.
