Any guidance is greatly appreciated!

I am very passionate about making educational toys, but have very little knowledge about regulations. I have read that I should register as a Small Batch Manufacturer since my total gross revenue isn't even close to $1m (I wish!).

So besides registering as a Small Batch Manufacturer, keeping track of my products (how do I do it?) and including safety labels (what information is required to be on them?), do I have to do anything else in order to have a legal business?

I take great care about making each toy as safe as possible, but should I be concerned about including buttons and other small objects in my products? I sew each rattle in a separate pouch prior to sewing it in any of my toys, I double and triple sew my products, and always make sure every attachment is very safe. My husband is worried that if by a parent's negligence a child gets hurt, we will get sued, so he says my business isn't worth it. Can anyone enlighten me on that subject?! Making educational toys is my passion and my dream, but I want to be as safe as possible.
If you see any of the products in my store that are not legal without being tested by a third party, please let me know!
I'm sorry if I have too many questions. Any direction as to where to go first will be greatly appreciated!
THANK YOU so much!!!

Oh-oh, I just noticed I am supposed to make this thread for members only. I can't find where to edit my post, so if you need to delete it, Beverly, I'll post another one that is public, or are you able to make it private? I apologies!
