My name is Kim Matheny I am a self taught doll artist. I started making dolls in 2010 when my mother was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer. I am an avid reader and found I couldn't concentrate on a book so needed something to do with my hands to distract me from things I could'nt control. Thats how I started making the dolls, first by needle felting them then clay. While making their little faces I would see them in my mind and they always told me their story. These stories all revolve around the city of Elftown in my backyard. Of course being a reader of paranormal fiction, especially young adult, I get alot of ideas from the books I read.
Family and friends suggested I start selling my dolls and through internet re-search I found Etsy. I love Etsy, I am able to show and sell my little creations to people all around the world. By doing this I can afford to keep making my dolls. I don't believe there is a better market for handmade original art.
