What is your favourite bookbinding?

Hello!

I am new on etsy as a seller, and for now only selling 3-in-1 notebooks with grids, folders and ampersands. Now I don't really know what to call the way I bookbinded them (you can see the detail a bit here, it's only visible in the higher part of the notebook https://img1.etsystatic.com/017/0/6926379/il_570xN.471821345_igg4.jpg ) but my question to you is, what is your favourite bookbinding "style" and pro/cons?

:)

My favourite is a single Coptic stitch. Tho I've just started playing around with concertina bindings and love them.

I agree with Jodi. The coptic looks both classic and modern. But I also like hardcover, non exposed spines.

I love the long stitch with variations and waxed linen thread!

Am I pedestrian for favoring a nice, clean perfect bind? Though I admit it's less about the book and more about what's on it in that case. However, if we're talking hardcover, I'd have to agree with RilegatoaMano.

Re: What is your favourite bookbinding?

With the journals I make I find that I'm partial to the stab-binding technique. It keeps with the rustic look that I am looking for.

I love your beautiful journals, RilegatoaMano!

I learned how to do the secret Belgian binding last winter and am really enjoying that stitch. Here's an example from my shop (I also like to upcycle boxes from craft beers, hence the cover design):

Re: What is your favourite bookbinding?

New to the team so I'm a little late to the party. I really like doing coptic bindings.

I don't really have the long stitch down but I've seen some that I am really partial to. Stab bindings are fun to do and so are non-adhesive bindings but as for my very favorite I guess I would have to agree with RilegatoaMano that my favorite bindings are leather with raised spines.

Re: What is your favourite bookbinding?

So this is my ampersand notebook with typography grids!
https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/154628659/limited-3-in-1-notebook-london-with

I was wondering if you think I should do blank covers once I have run out of letterpressed covers, or if I should try printing them with linocut (I can't letterpress them again)?
I really like the 3-in-1 so I don't want to abandon my work, and it has been the most successful item in my shop…

(also any advice on the price is welcome, I wasn't sure how much so I started lower, but it takes me so much time to make the notebook that I was told by my peers to go up in price, what do you think?)

I have to say I have never learned a book binding technique I didn't like! https://www.etsy.com/listing/170500870/handmade-journals-one-of-a-kind-hand?ref=shop_home_active

love a journal that will lay flat as you work in it!
