pickle pot question!

Hi jewellers!

I thought I was being really clever and bought a small crock pot/ slow cooker off ebay...

BUT.

It has a metal bowl! This won't work will it? i have another big crock pot and that has a glass bowl, so why it didn't occur to me to use that one I don't know. I want to KEEP that one to use for cooking.

So my question: will using a metal bowled crock pot make everything go wrong?

Thanks!

Re: pickle pot question!

Hi Effie,

From what I understand, you need to store your pickle in either ceramic or glass. Any metal that is not copper used to contain the pickle or remove your items from the pickle will potentially neutralize your mixture, and make it ineffective.

Definitely don't mix up your for cooking pot and your pickle pot - you don't want to end up sick! Although the acid is very mild, it's still best to keep it completely out of the kitchen.

I use this pickle pot - which is perfect because it fits nicely on my workbench, and doesn't get too hot

Re: pickle pot question!

I think Holly is right - if you use one with a metal bowl that might come off in the pickle too - glass/ceramic bowl would be much safer!
