It is technically illegal to use any copyrighted logos without the teams permission. Many crafters do it and nothing happens. Most teams don't worry about the small stuff, it isn't worth their time. At Michigan State University I checked into getting permission and found that it is a big headache. First you have to produce the item and show it to their committee for their permission. You also fill out a form and pay an application fee. It can be a lengthy process. If you get permission, you must keep accurate records so they get their share. You also have to pay a minimum amount each year up front to cover what they feel their commission should be for that year. If you don't sell enough to cover that commission amount, what you paid them is your loss. If you do sell enough to cover that amount, then you would pay their commission rate (i.e. 8%) for any additional items sold. Of course, you would want to build that cost into your pricing.
Also, I asked about making crafted items for re-sale out of licensed fabric and was told it is illegal unless you get the fabric manufacturer's permission. You would think the manufacturers would expect crafters to use their fabric for re-sale.
Generally nothing happens it you do it on a small scale. On the other hand, it is possible to have a problem. At Michigan State, when they have their semi-annual craft shows, the campus police are instructed to confiscate any items for sale with MSU logos on them unless the vendor can show proof of permission. Not only can they legally confiscate all of the items with logos on them, they can legally confiscate all monies that the vendor has on hand. A relative is in law enforcement and he said he didn't feel the small amount of extra income would be worth it.
As I mentioned before, many crafters do it and nothing happens. It would be your decision if rare but possible headache would be worth the income produced. My job was in accounting so I may be a little more cautious than the average crafter, but decided it wasn't worth the possible hassle for myself.
I hope this helps.
