Re: Welcome New and Old Members

I finally got some necklaces made and photographed today, but my camera went kaput right after I finished taking the pictures and won't download anything. I'm recharging it, hoping that's the issue. A new camera is not in the budget at all.

Re: Welcome New and Old Members

ellemar,

I use my son's cannon(sp). I went to use it yesterday and it was blinking red.
I know nothing about that camera!

So, I looked through the box and came upon a battery pack. Looked at the manual, clicked the button and switched the battery pack. BAM! I was back in business.
But when I was done, I put the old battery pack back in. Only cuz I didn't want to hear his mouth about" What if you broke my camera?" stuff--:)

I'll mention to him tonight that I think his camera battery needs changing.--:)

Re: Welcome New and Old Members

Saw the new posts in the Promotions thread:
http://www.etsy.com/forums_thread.php?page=1&thread_id=6686281

Lovely items!!

I edited this listing - a Blue and White Beaded piece - good for the Holidays, maybe especially Hanukkah, being blue and white!
http://www.etsy.com/listing/20235392/blue-white-sparkling-star-burst-beaded

Still working on new things - and my Custom Order!!

Been doing Twitter & Facebook some, too!! Not sure how that figures in, but getting some exposure from both - people looking for the holidays. I'm using the #handmade hash tag on Twitter a lot - they actually have a "newspaper" for that hash tag!

Finding some interesting posts from those I am following on Twitter also - not just about Handmade!!

Re: Welcome New and Old Members

Doing okay. Busy. Had to go buy glass today for frames. EeeeeeeYI. Not so easy. I'll be more careful with picture glass from now on. But strolled through a marvelous frame shop with lots of art prints and a few antiques and piles of gorgeous, colorful old (I think) jewelry and stacks of mats of all colors and all together it was enough to make a person sell the dog. Well, NOPE. Not THAT good! ;-)

It's a drizzly, chilly day. Glad to be home with soup on the stove.

Re: Welcome New and Old Members

RSS, that's a lovely piece, with the Hanukkah colors and the beading. Gorgeous!

Klaire, I'm between a rock and a hard place with that silly camera. I have to wait till Monday to do anything about it, stuck waiting for payday. I've got a big handful of items I can't list until I've got the pictures off the camera. Phooey! This week has been a real marathon of frustration.

Re: Welcome New and Old Members

Good Morning all!

Guess what day this is?
Yup!, It's Tim's BIRTHDAY!
Happy Birthday Tim, and may there be many more--:)

Hi art2. I'd have been tempted to buy some of that stuff and open another shop on etsy--;)

ellemar, I feel your frustrations--:0

I was going to take some more photos of the remainder of the 5 new silks, but its cloudy and I'd rather wait till we have more sunshine.

Does everyone have their Thanksgiving day shopping finished?
I've got to get some seasoned bread cubes for stuffing---that's my offering for Turkey day.

Anyone have a favorite recipe for that day?

Re: Welcome New and Old Members

Good morning, all!

Gorgeous new listings. I hearted several.

I know what you mean about using cameras and such! I know how to do what I know how to do but if anything unusual comes up, I have to yell for my husband or son! :(

I'm amazed daily that I can even manage my shop here. I have learned a lot since I started it.

I haven't even started shopping for t-day. That's on the schedule for today. We do the whole nine yards here even tho there will only be 6 for dinner. I do most of the cooking but I love to do it! Ya'll come on down!!

Re: Welcome New and Old Members

Really lovely new listings everyone.

Happy Birthday to Tim!!!

Elle-I so know what you mean. My camera works but the photos are not good. I can take 20 pics and maybe get 3 half way decent ones. Cameras are not my thing.

Art2-I wish I had been with you in that shop!

Willow-I'm amazed at what I have learned since going online to sell. Now I know more than my husband.lol

My mom's stuffing is the one dish that everyone seems to carry over to their tables as they have grown up. My son even called for it the other day.
She put Maple-flavored sausage in it and the sweetness with the savory is very good.

Re: Welcome New and Old Members

Chris sounds yummie!

I recall one Thanksgivng many years ago, that I decided to get fancy and put chestnuts in my stuffing. I chopped them up fine and put them inwith the cooked onions, celery, etc.

When the family began to eat my usually delicious stuffing, they got funny looks on their faces.
I took a bite and immediately noticed their was crunchiness texture to the stuffing. Very crunchy!!

Most people were kind and just pushed it to the side of their plate. I was so discouraged.
Later I got the recipe out for 'chestnut stuffing' and lo and behold, it said to boil the chestnuts first to get rid of the crunch, crunch before adding to stuffing!! Never made it again!

Re: Welcome New and Old Members

My favorite Thanksgiving story is the year I turned 15 (thanks for the B-day wishes!). My mom, god bless her, turned into a screaming idiot every time we hosted a family dinner. Everything had to be just so. The house, the dinner, my sister and I had to be good (Dad was kinda immune to Moms demands). I was tired of it and somehow convinced her that I would do ALL the cooking. All she had to do was get the house ready. With one stipulation.... No guests could know. Mom was allowed into the kitchen near the end to fuss over the last few things and to help get everything dished up & on the table, to better pull off the charade.
All through dinner my Mom accepted the compliments with a funny look on her face that only the immediate family understood. Finally over pumpkin and mince pie, Mom made the announcement that I had done ALL the cooking. Most of my Aunts and uncles took a bit of convincing, some of my cousins took the low road and pretended to gag and feel sick...but asked for seconds on the pie. LOL
Since that day I've had aunts (and now cousins) call ME for cooking advice and share recipes, and I have hardly ever had family turn down a dinner invite. :-)

Re: Welcome New and Old Members

Now THAT'S a great story, Tim! And happy birthday to you, too!

I found the mini-card reader for my camera, so I was able to retrieve the pictures today. I've got a few listings up, and more to follow tomorrow. Here are the first 3:

Yeah Ellemar!

Happy Birthday Tim! I have never been around men that cook. The man supposedly does but he has never cooked dinner for me yet.

Re: Welcome New and Old Members

Happy Birthday, Tim!

Great Thanksgiving story, too!!

I've had a bunch of different experiences on Thanksgiving - some good, some mediocre and some really fun ones!! This year will be a quiet one. I have Turkey and pumpkin and veggies (I'm on a diet!)

Elle - glad you got the camera thing worked out. I'm a trained semi-professional landscape photographer (never went the whole way to become really professional). Doing the shots for selling is a little different, as it is Product or Catalog Photography - mostly inside. I use this little Canon PowerShot, but it has Manual setting on it, so I can set it the way I want it. I got trained doing Manual, so I get frustrated with most anything else - the HP digital camera I had before the Canon use to drive me a little crazy, because I couldn't control some things!! Now I have figured out the Canon PowerShot, so I get pretty decent shots in just a few.

On some things, I guess I could answer some photography questions, but I am not a teacher and have only so-so experience with digital cameras, so I am not always the greatest.

I've been promoting for the Holiday season the last couple of days -- too much time online, but I got some things done. Now for the next few days, I will be concentrating on making things (don't I keep saying that???).

Really - now I need to make some more things for the Holidays and Winter (Hats and Scarves) -- have all these ideas and not enough time!!

Re: Welcome New and Old Members

RSS-I got your newsletter. Very nice job on that btw.

Tim-great story about your cooking the meal. What a wonderful memory for you.

It is still quite warm here (79 degrees) so it's very hard to feel the holidays. Hard to believe Thanksgiving is just around the corner.

Ellemar--lovely new listings--Love the heart pendant!!

2 weeks ago, iCraft asked to do an interview with me, for their spotlight feature blog:

http://icraft.ca/blog/klaire-martin-in-the-spotlight-198.php

The questions they asked, were excellent, because it showed they had to do research on me to be able to ask such profound questions.

Re: Welcome New and Old Members

Awesome article, Klaire!! Great answers to some complex questions. I didn't know you were a nurse...my daughter is an ER nurse! I worked in the lab as a MT before my accident.

And many congrats on the sales. Wow, 4 at once!

Have a great weekend everyone. Here's hoping for lots of sales.

Re: Welcome New and Old Members

Great news on the sale, Klaire! And, I really like the journal feature too.

I've got a new pendant listed (similar to my current avatar) - actually, there's two in one listing, since I made two very similar ones.
