Re: Welcome New and Old Members

Since we seem to have organic weed killers, anyone have a good non-toxic way to get rid of snails? We are concerned about the dogs getting into whatever we use.

Re: Welcome New and Old Members

Thanks, Annie and all. The wheels of medicine are in motion SOMEwhere, I hope. Waiting, waiting. There's not much cooking going on here, which is an abrupt lifestyle change. Trying to eat good though, yes.

About the banner. I've not ever managed to get a good one going anyway, so won't be sad for it to be eliminated. Thanks for that info, Annie. I haven't gone into the forums lately. (They do seem to be on too much caffeine, at times!)

The humidity just stays and stays. Suppose it is here for the season.

Today it's back to town for wheel bearings and two new tires. Always something! Tomorrow it's a day trip for routine doctor visits, so the repair shop squeezed us in....Ah well, it's a distraction to sit there and see everyone busy and everything normal.

Snails. I was about to 'post'........if Epsom salt is good for putting in or around a tomato plant, would that work for snails?

Re: Welcome New and Old Members

Annie, I have no personal experience, but if you Google the question, this is the first thing I came up with: http://www.wikihow.com/Get-Rid-of-Snails

Looks like 3 ways, all should be safe for dogs, except maybe the beer one. LOL

Working on the ring orders and I have the son working on trying bentwood bracelets. Something else to add to the shop?

Re: Welcome New and Old Members

Good morning!

Rainy and humid here too Jan, but it tis the season!! Take just one day at a time.

Annie, Epsom salts sound reasonable.

Tim, bet your son is a big help and it's nice to have the companionship too!

Waves to all;have a good day!

Re: Welcome New and Old Members

Good morning!

I've heard the beer one for slugs maybe for snails, too. Epsom salts sounds like it would work as long as it wasn't too much to change the ph of the soil.

Horse and dog are all caught up on their shots now.

Klaire, are you going to watch the Belmont? California Chrome might be the next triple crown. But that mile and half can be the dasher of dreams.

Jan, take of yourself, too. Staying busy is good but take time for you, even if just a quiet sit somewhere.

Tim, busy, busy bee! It's nice you have your son working with you.

I'm heading to the library and then the studio. Have a great day and waves to all....

Re: Welcome New and Old Members

Morning.

Thanks for the advice and link. The salt will change the ph too much. Last night we used coffee grounds and removed about 40 of those pesky critters. This morning I didn't see any but one ate a good portion of a bean leaf. I am hesitant to use beer. I know a certain fun loving dog that would probably lick the beer. I think we are going to use the Sluggo stuff since it is okay to use for pets.

The crane just arrived to lift the 2 ton AC condensing unit on the roof at work. Later.

Good morning all!

I had a riding horse that used to share a beer or two with me. He was a great horse!

If the coffee grounds work, super! Annie, I hope the crane is sturdy!--;-)

Julie, you bet your sweet self I'll be watching that Belmont ~~California Chrome all the way baybeeeeee! Least wise I hope he does it! I always say if I ever won the lottery I'd go to a claiming race and buy me a race horse~~~it's in my blood!

Off to the dentist this morn and library afterwards.

Have a sweet day all!

Re: Welcome New and Old Members

Good morning!

Cranes and 2 ton A/C units! Yikes!

Klaire, I hope the dentist goes OK. I'm smiling with a picture of you and your horse sharing that beer in my mind!

I'm heading to the mountains today to pick up things I had at a gallery that is closing. It's really kinda sad. This gallery has been open for as long as I can remember and was the first one to take my things to sell. Over 20 years I've been selling there. Years ago the main highway that used to go by them was moved to make a divided highway and they were essentially cut off from the main traffic. I know their sales have been down for a long time. I guess this year they finally have to close the doors.

It's been nice weather here. Not too hot and humid but that is about to change. 90's for the rest of the week.

A sale yesterday so here's some dust! ¸.•'´¯)¸.•'´¯)¸.•'´¯)

Re: Welcome New and Old Members

Morning.

2 ton AC units are small. I have 5 ton and some units have more than one. The big shopping centers have mega ton units and los of them. Right now they are testing mine and freezing me out. Good thing I brought a sweater.

A horse that drank beer. That's funny. I think Copper would do that too. He eats anything...but I limit it now to dog food, fruits and veggies.

Good morning!

After an all night soft rain, all the new plants in the ground got a good wetting!
Today in the 60's```Great thinking weather. But not for swimming!

Congrats Julie on your sale. Let's hope the new gallery will be productive for you.

I dunno Annie, 2 tons sound like a lot to me. But you have more knowledge, in this than I.--:-)

Waves to all !

Have a best day!

Re: Welcome New and Old Members

Good morning!

Now that I think about it, doesn't the 2 tons have to do with the amount of air they circulate. I think our units, and we have 4, are some # ton. Not that it weighs 2 tons. And how do they weigh air? ;-)

Klaire, you'll be having June flowers soon with all the rain. We really need some rain. We're in the scattered t-storm pattern which means it might rain up the road but not here.

I've got a new commission to start today(small soap pump) and some orders to pack.

Annie, how are the neck wraps going?

Tim is under all the saw dust from the ring orders he had!

Jan, pop in when you can.

Have a great day and waves to all!

Re: Welcome New and Old Members

That's right, Julie. The ton measurement has meaning for the amount of square footage it's going to heat or cool and also to be considered on deciding size of unit is the amount of insulation, window efficiency, all that kind of stuff.

We've got a weather wad moving in on us so I'll be disconnecting until it passes. We did finally get some rain yesterday and some more would be okay.

Re: Welcome New and Old Members

Morning.

Sorry I didn't mean to imply the condensing units weighed that much. The units have to be craned as they are on the roof.

The rice packs are selling. The chiropractor did not order any more. The sports and fitness massage center just ordered another U shaped one.

Good morning!

I'm up early again. Farrier coming this morning. Jeez, every morning this week it's been something. TGIF!

I've got new work to finish and orders to pack today so I'll do that while I'm waiting.

It's going to be hot today. Have a good one!

Re: Welcome New and Old Members

Good Friday morning!

Julie, thanks for the sales dust--:-) Did you folks get some of that nasty weather that was suppose to happen in the south?

Jan, good thing we got that tonnage business clarified.----not sure I totally understand it???

Spent yesterday afternoon with a good friend. Enjoyed the time soooo much!

Today, hopefully I can get in to see my dentist---He's leaving for a week and I don't think I can tolerate my tooth issue for that long till he returns!

Waves to all! Have a good day!

Good morning!

We finally got some rain yesterday afternoon but nothing severe. The last big system rolled right past us without so much as a sprinkle.

I hope to get out for a walk this morning and then to the studio to work.

Klaire, have fun with the family tonight.

Waves to all and have a great day!

Re: Welcome New and Old Members

Hello out there....anybody listening?

It's hot today and my DH decided today was the day burn the huge brush pile behind the house. So I've been out there sweating and raking. Not what I wanted to do today.

Since I'm already smokey, I'm going to do some burgers on the grill cuz, you know the smoke will always follow me around. ;-)

I hope everyone is OK! Can you see me waving?

Re: Welcome New and Old Members

Hi everyone!

Had a really busy week - was hardly in here at all. Had a sale in my Artfire Studio last Sunday, which was nice!

Sound like all of you are busy - Annie, I am doing "companion planting" in my container garden and with the rose bushes - I found this on Wikipdedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_pest-repelling_plants -- and they list some plants that are anti-snail. I have snails, too, in the Flower Bed. I did put some Garlic Cloves in the ground and in some of the containers and maybe that will help. There are still some snails around (I think especially under the Ground Ivy and other foliage in the Flower Bed), but less seem to be getting to the plants. I'm using Garlic Cloves from the Fresh Heirloom Garlic Bulbs I buy in a grocery store - it is not the kind labeled "Made In China" that is in many grocery stores - it is MONVISO, grown in California. I get it at the local WINCO grocery store. I asked MONVISO about using Cloves of their Garlic in the garden - and they said that since it is Heirloom, it actually should work - and you can even grow your own Garlic bulbs from it, even though I am not sure if that will actually happen in my gardening. I just want the plants in the ground - as they help with repelling all kinds of "things"!

But, Annie - my "garden" is much smaller than yours!

Tim - not surprised to hear you are busy with orders!

Julie - sorry to hear about the closing Gallery - always is sad to hear about a closing Gallery, but sounds like you are selling some and busy.

Still putting in time on a Thread Crochet Decor Custom Order - while also trying to get some new listings up. My latest in my etsy Shop is brand new (recently made and never listed anywhere before):

https://www.etsy.com/listing/192360477/hanging-pot-holder-and-basket-set-in-red?

Wishing everyone good days -- and sales!

Re: Welcome New and Old Members

It's been a hectic week since I got back to the STUDIO, but today I am putting the finishing touches on the last of the 21 rings that needed to get done in the last 8 days. Whew, busiest week in a long time.
Still found time to got the the flea market on Sat morning, scored a nice older drill that I needed. I hate most new tools, they are such junk compared to older ones. Also went to a huge car show/swap meet that I used to go to, even sold at for several years. Now all I need is to figure out a way to put an old car in what is now my STUDIO. That's not going to happen. I need to think about moving. Somewhere with less cold and snow with a barn sized building to house all my interests.
Ah, dreams..............

Well, gee, Tim. I have the perfect place for you. Ha. Not done with it yet, though! ;-) But it's time to start clearing out STUFF again........I'm positive proof that it isn't space that makes a person productive.

We had a wonderful coooooolish weekend. I did small amount of INside work to finish an old project. Sanding a wall. Now I just need to get out the paint bucket. Tiny steps.

Re: Welcome New and Old Members

Good Monday morning--:-)

Gee, everyone is busy as bees---and that's good!

Julie, burning up a brush pile sounds like a weenie roast in the making!
When I had my 'hundred acre 'woods we would get extra long sticks to roast hot dogs and kielbasi in that brush pile fire---yum, yum!

Tim, 21 rings! Hi, ho, hi ho it's off to the bank you go--;-) So where would you move to that's away from the ice and snow?

Ruth , pretty pot-holders and basket!!
I heard that garlic keeps away vampires, and wear-wolves,but snails? That's a new one for me--:-)

And, Jan you're up to painting--how neat is that!!

Me, I'm up to whatever keeps me out of trouble---may get some of my poetry sorted and on the computer. Maybe--;-)

You each have the bestest day!

Waves at Annie and Susan!

Re: Welcome New and Old Members

Good morning!

Tim, we have the back 1/3 of an old chicken house you can use! Congrats on all those rings!!

Klaire, no weenie roasts, just a huge smoldering pile of ashes.

Ruth, I took a tour through your shop again. Lovely things!

Jan, wall painting? Something decorative or just color change?

No real plans for the day today. Which usually means some kind of plan will find me. I am heading to the shop and then the PO.

Ya'll have a great day and waves to all.....

Color change but smoothed the texture first. (I get wild sometimes.) I'm the perpetual decorator. When I finish one room, it's time to start another! Still wonderful cool air here. I know it won't last. I'm enjoying it. Good morning, everyone.
