Being from Salem, MA, I am so in love with Hawthorne. I made this a couple of days ago - knowing full well that it's doubtful anyone would buy it, but who cares. It's Hawthorne!

I make things that are period attire, or that are reproductions of historical images. My daughter wants the blue Marie Antionette dress that she is so frequently portrayed in.

I do viking reenactment card or tablet woven bands, a medieval (though much more ancient) tecnique of weaving decorative bands for clothing. I am most inspired by scandinavian archaeological finds, although I am not yet mastering all the secrets of making a perfect museum-worthy replica. Im working toward that goal :) http://www.etsy.com/listing/81161259/icelandic-double-face-tablet-weaving?ref=pr_shop
I create things based on narratives and characters from the past whether they are fictional myths like Beowulf or real historical figures like King Edward I.

I am a professor of historical rhetorics by day and a creatress of history-inspired, upcycled treasures by night. I am currently working on Titanic, burlesque, and custom dictionary initial pendants.
I like to use stamps from around the world to decoupage boxes, frames etc.. You can learn so much about political world history and world customs by looking at old postage stamps.

The different clothing styles through the ages is wonderful inspiration! I've made a Greek lady, a 1970's style pantsuit lady, medieval lady, Egyptian lady.... There's just not enough time in my day for all the different time periods I want to cover!

I am very much inspired by Vking and medieval clothing, I naalbind and tablet weave which is very Viking but I also love to use these old techniques with modern materials and colours creating something somewhat different :-)
My art and items are very much inspired by folklore for example my matrishkas have decorative patterns inspired by slavic historical items (like tableclothes and woodart).
I do not have the skills and work space to make truly historical reproductions so I just make things inspired by history. Such as jewelry inspired by the Anglo-Saxon artifacts found at Sutton Hoo (deep ruby red and sapphire glass beads with gold). I also have a pillow inspired by a Viking shield, it has straps in the back so you can actually hold it on your arm as a shield:

I make a lot of medieval pieces, but I've also been doing more work in the style of the 18th century, especially colonial American ironwork. I do work from other periods as well, but most of my inspiration is medieval and Renaissance.
I've seen too many old movies. Many of my hats are inspired by the leading ladies from the '30's to the '60's. Rosalind Russell, Barbara Stanwyk, and Loretta Young are some I can think of right now. Any actress who carried a fur muff in a movie has inspired me to make matching faux fur hats and muffs.. https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/170550458/winter-felt-hat-pink-felt-wedding-hat? My first all hand blocked felt hat. Bette Davis anyone? This would be good for a wedding or Easter.
