Hi India sellers!
I’m excited to share that on Monday, November, 23rd, Etsy India will work with it’s third party partner agency here to offer some “Listing Critique” tips for Indian sellers on the forum!
For those of you who have not participated in a “Listing Critique” before, here’s how it works:
Here are the details:
We’re so excited and we hope you are too!

Hello Priyanka, hope you are doing well! First of all, I would like to Congratulate you for the 5 star review. I really like this hand block print kurta with sharara and it’s a great festive wear. I am really looking forward to critiquing your listing.
First thing which jumps into my mind while reviewing your listing is your listing title. I would suggest you to write 3-4 descriptive phrases and segregate them with commas which will make your title clear and readable. For example- “Hand Block Printed Kurta With Sharara, Silk Mustard Yellow Tunic Set, Handmade Organic Traditional Party Wear”
Regarding your photographs, they look fantastic! You’ve done a great job with the lighting, as well as showing the dress from different angles. However, there is a new option of adding a listing video now - which helps shoppers gain a clear picture of your product! Make sure you capture details that you’re not able to capture with your photos: angles, color or shine, movement, texture, size, item in use, variations, and even the unique process of making your item. Let your craft shine!
Also, I would suggest adding information to the “shop member section” where you can write about yourself and about your team members in an elaborate manner.

Hello Team Etsy,
Thank you for this opportunity! I request you to take a look at this listing from my shop: https://www.etsy.com/in-en/listing/725482820/3-line-hyderabadi-white-pearl-chain?ref=shop_home_activ...
Hi Disha!
I’m Shweta and I work in the Community team here at Etsy India. I must say that the pearl necklace looks so classy and elegant!
It looks like you are using some of the best practices already for your listing and your listing is quite strong. However, I have a few suggestions that can help you in making this listing stronger for the upcoming holiday season and festivities!
Firstly, I’ll talk about the photographs. I think you have done a great job by adding 5 angles of the product to your listing. You can add as many as 10! The more images you add, the more you are letting your buyers visualise the product.
You can consider adding a packaging shot, this shot will allow the buyers to visualise what the product will look like when it reaches them. You can also consider adding a scale shot wherein you can communicate the dimensions of the product visually to the buyers by keeping this necklace against a ruler.
Additionally, there is a new option of adding a listing video now - which helps shoppers gain a clear picture of your product! Make sure you capture details that you’re not able to capture with your photos: angles, color or shine, movement, texture, size, item in use, variations, and even the unique process of making your item. Let your craft shine!
For more ideas on photography, you can have a look at this helpful article curated by Etsy on Jewellery photography
Next, I’ll talk about the tags. I like how you have utilised all 13 tags (very important). Your tags act as keywords and contribute to the searchability of your listing on the platform. However, please refrain from using single word tags such as hyderabadpearjewels, hyderabadipearl, freshwaterpearlchain etc. Multi word or multi phrase tags tend to work better on Etsy. For example, you can consider using tags, such as: Hyderabadi pearls, pearl necklace, Pearl chain, freshwater pearls, stranded pearl chain etc.
Always remember that tags can include the colour, style, purpose and the material specific to the product.
Positive customer reviews are key to building a successful Etsy shop. Try and get as many reviews for your shop as possible. Here is a helpful article on 5 Ways to Get Great Reviews
Lastly, please consider adding information to the “About section” and the “shop member section”. About section is a space that allows you to write about your business, products, experience etc and a shop member section is where you can write about yourself in a line or two. It just lets your buyers know that there is a real human running this Etsy shop and of course also adds to the credibility of your Etsy shop. To get inspiration on how to write About section, refer to this link: How to Craft a Killer About Section

Thank you, Shweta! These insights are indeed very helpful.

Nupur
Hi Nupur,
Hope you are doing well and safe.
So overall your shop is in a great shape and looks professional with the banner and logo. You have done a good job with the story part as well. It will help you to build a connection with the buyer. It’s good to see that you are offering free shipping.
Now, I would like to suggest a few things for your listing part. A few changes here and there and you are good to go!
The first thing that I would recommend to you is to think like a buyer while curating your product title. You can put the title in 3-4 phrases, separated by commas that describe the product identity in a simple, readable format.
For example: Indian Wedding Jewellery, Gold Matha Patt for kids i, Necklace and Earring Set.
Coming to your product photography, you have done diverse photography that captures the product clearly, which is great. You can also include a process shot in your secondary photos, to showcase how your product is made. For product photography ideas and inspirations, you can refer to the article given below: https://www.etsy.com/uk/seller-handbook/article/case-study-how-to-photograph-jewellery/150875867017
To make your listing even stronger I would suggest you to add a listing video of your product. It will give a more clear picture of your product to the buyer. Make sure you capture details that you’re not able to capture with your photos: angles, color or shine, movement, texture, size, item in use, variations, and even the unique process of making your item. Let your craft shine!
One other recommendation is, make sure to use all 13 available tags with multiple words or phrases. Think from the buyer’s perspective and then write the tags accordingly. It needs to be descriptive and accurate to your product. For example: Indian gold jewelry, ethnic jewelry, jewelry for her, wedding jewelry, gold matha Patti, kids hair accessory, handmade jewelry, gift for her, anniversary gift, Christmas gift, vintage style jewelry, ghungroo jewelry, gold tikka headpiece.

Hello Kanupriya, hope you are doing great. Thank you for submitting your listing. This Christmas tree ornament is really cute!
First of all, I would like to congratulate you for all the 5 star reviews. Your shop is top notch and I can see that you have worked really hard to optimize your shop in the best way. One thing which I would like to suggest is framing your title. You have already written 2 phrases in your title which is great but it would be good if you could add one or two more. For example- Beaded Ornament For Christmas Tree, Paper Bead Tree, Handcrafted Christmas Tree Ornament etc.
Apart from this, I can see that three more photo slots are empty and I encourage you to use them. The more angles you will show, the more buyers will be interested in your product.
Additionally, there is a new option of adding a listing video now - which helps shoppers gain a clear picture of your product! Make sure you capture details that you’re not able to capture with your photos: angles, color or shine, movement, texture, size, item in use, variations, and even the unique process of making your item. Today I am sharing my Christmas ornaments listing
Hi Diksha,
Hope you are doing well. My name is Shweta and I work for the Community team at Etsy, India.
Thank you for sharing your listing with us! Your work is unique and beautiful. You have maintained your shop quite well with the banner and the logo. You have done a good job with the story part as well.
The first thing that I would recommend to you is to think about what a buyer will search for while curating your product title. Keep it in a descriptive form. For example- “Ceramic Ornaments For Christmas, Christmas Home Decor, Handmade Tree Decorations”.
There is not much to change in your shop as you have already checked off all the boxes. One thing that I would recommend you is to consider adding a process shot to your photos to show the buyer what it looks like while you’re in the process of making it.
One other recommendation that I want to add is to make sure to use all 13 available tags. For example- Christmas home decor, Christmas vibe, Christmas tree ornaments, Christmas gifts, Handmade tree ornaments, Christmas tree decor, custom made gifts.

Hello Mansi and Jugal,
I’m Shweta and I work for the Community team here at Etsy, India.
I must say, the photograph in your listing looks so unique and retro! It definitely adds to the beauty of one’s home or office.
Before I share my suggestions with you, I must say that a lot of things look well in place already. It’s a strong listing to begin with! I love how you have added so many different angles of the product and added a listing video as well - good job
Coming to the critique, I noticed that you are using 2 phrases in your title, we usually suggest that you can use 3-4 relevant phrases for your listing. This can allow you to use more descriptive words about your listing. Here’s an example: “Retro Cassette Mixtape Photograph, Minimal Photography,Instant download photograph, Retro wall decor” - like i said, this is just an example of what we think your title should look like, you can consider using any other word/phrase that you think best describes your product.
Next, I see that you have used all 13 tags- which is great! However, try and avoid the usage of single word tags such as “mixtape”. Multiword or multiphrase tags to work better on Etsy rather than single word tags.
Tags act as keywords and help your listing appear in the search of the buyer. Tags can include the colour, style, purpose and the material specific to the product. For example, you can use tags, such as : retro wall art, easy to download, mixtape photograph etc.
I see your item is categorized correctly and you’re using lots of attributes, which is great! That really helps your item get found by the right buyers.
Next, I see that you have made a sale - congratulations! Positive customer reviews are key to building a successful Etsy shop. Try and get as many reviews for your shop as possible. Here is a helpful article on 5 Ways to Get Great Reviews
