The Captain's Table - Leader's Thread

I am delighted to welcome Roxy, Deb and Penelope, our new leaders, to the Captain's Table!

This thread is where Leaders can discuss all manner of team-related things and where members can listen in.

So, to our new Leaders: your first mission (should you choose to accept) is to search Etsy for articles and information about being a Team Leader and post your links here. We can then talk about how we are going to revive and renew this team.

I'd just like to make it clear that I don't encourage favouriting or following shops that don't do anything for you. If I don't favourite your items, please don't take it personally, it may just not be my cup of tea. However, I will if it is relevant to a Treasury or there is something about the image or the product that I like, even if I wouldn't buy it myself.

Honesty, enthusiasm, the willingness to support and listen to each other is key! The bottom line is that we're here to grow ourselves and to nurture our shops to Success. The best way to do that is together :)

Do you want to discourage the super non steam punk items being posted? We have a large diversity here which is great. Some shops post wildly out of place items like baby cloths or other items. They just seem to be thrown in without thought.

Helping out on the "Show us what you're proud of" thread. It's really great hearing about the items members have posted and talked about.

Hey all, yes sounds like a good idea Sally Ann although I generally cant think of many examples to give you totally agree with the taxidermy dont like that an awful lot!

A belated Happy New Year, Leaders! Let's get stuck in, shall we?

Roxie - are you happy to run the Valentine's Treasury that I sent you a convo about?

Who has a bright idea for team games/promotion that they's like to try?

Hashtag Idea - I've started using #LoveSteampunk when Tweeting some of my items, but it occurred to me that we could use #Love(Burlesque/Apocalypse/Gothic/Rockabilly etc) for members items, all across facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Instagram and anywhere that uses hashtags. We can also use the team hashtag #IHLIB or even #LoveEtsy. What do you think?

Jensen - keep an eye on shops posting the 'wildly out of place items'. I think we need to prune the team, so if people have posted in the rollcall section and are posting appropriately, they are valued team mates.

As for Steampunk items - I'm being cautious, as people have very diverse ideas as to what Steampunk is.

I've closed the Show us what you're Proud of thread because people either didn't get it or weren't bothering to read it, so I've tried the same idea under a different name. Please help moderate it, everyone, thankyou!

Hi all, sorry I've been so quiet of late. I really need your help to get this team going. I will review it in a few months and see how we're doing.

I was hoping to see leaders posts in my absence but not much seems to have happened. I'd like to be able to hand over the Captaincy soon as I'm struggling a bit healthwise. Very frustrating, when you want to make things and enthuse about it all over the place!

How are you all doing?

Sorry I havent been on here much recently I have been having a few family emergencies and family always comes before anything else for me... just to let you know I will be on more often now.

I understand, Roxie. For me, it is: 1) Care of self - because I can't do much if I don't - 2) Family. Friends and work and fun take turns to be next in line ;)

I really, really need to find another Captain for this team. I'm doing my best to run my shop and stay on top of various annoying and occasionally disabling symptoms, but realistically I cannot give this team all the care it needs. I rely on you Leaders to be not just active, but proactive.

Can you suggest anyone who might also make a good leader? Send a few convos out and if they're not already in the team, see if they'd like to be a member and give them a while to see if they'd like to step up to the challenge.

We need to help people promote their shops, prune out the inactive members and use our new Pinterest boards.

I might have to set another deadline. If there is no candidate for the Captains' position and the group hasn't become more lively, I will have to let it go. Change is good, but I'd rather it was in the form of a new team head!
