'Smug mode engaged'...! Yes, I had a really good time at the Welcome to the Asylum event in Lincoln, organised by the VSS (Victorian Steampunk Society).
I sold 16 items, making a revenue of £303.50 Not bad, eh? I only paid £70 for my half of the stall so I feel like I did well. Haven't worked out my profit...I'll have a go when my brain has recovered!
I had a lot of interest and people took nearly all of my business cards, probably about 200 at a guess. My own costume got quite a few lovely compliments and I was glad I'd finished my lace top in time..it was so hot. Windy too - at one point, a very strong gust knocked half my shop on the floor but thanks to some kind browsers and my brother, we rescued everything quickly. Note to self - take weights and strong clips that don't break next time!
Matt did really well, too, selling quite a few large pieces and lots of little one. We both came away feeling much more confident about our businesses and already bursting with ideas about what to make next. I could have sold about twelve pairs of gloves had I had M and L sizes at the ready. I took two pairs and one sold, the other was too small for most people...the one they really fitted reluctantly passed up an offer to haggle..oh well. I nearly bought a compass/sundial myself. (I've made a note of the shop...well, it was our neighbour!)
I'll be putting up a couple of blog posts as soon as I get the photos and linking like mad!!! I've lots of photos to take now of all the stuff I came back with that was made for the event. Nine of the sixteen items didn't make it as far as Etsy!
So, who else has had a good sale recently?
