It occurred to me that providing a space for new members to introduce themselves would be a good idea...then it occurred to me that even members who have been a part of this group might like to say a bit about themselves.

So, a brief intro, preferably with a link to your About page (if you've got one). Feel free to post one or two other links here for people to explore, a Blog, Facebook page or Twitter etc.

I'll start:

I graduated from the University of Hertfordshire in 1996 with a BA Hons in Design Representation (Modelmaking). Coming from a family of 'sew and sews', 'knitwits' and modelmakers, I seem to have picked up a few skills here and there. I am also a Live Roleplayer, a trained Montessori Directress and a Reiki Teacher Practitioner (with the UKRF) but of late, aside from a few Reiki clients and an interest in personal development and Tai Chi, I'm mostly busy being a mum and getting involved in Steampunk. My creative impulse has re-awakened and now I'm doing the cliche: making stuff on my dining room table out of bits and bobs and inspirations.

Re: Introduce Yourself!

Hello,
My name is Viki and I've just joined the team.
I'm an archaeologist and a physical anthropologist by profession and a mother of 2 boys. After my first child was born my husband thought me how to wire wrap, he was doing it way before me and then in my free time I started making wire wrapped jewelry and developed from there. Currently he barely makes any jewelry and went into mead and beer brewing :)
My style of jewelry is based on my hobbies and the things I like.
I make Gothic, Steampunk, Fantasy and historically inspired jewelry from silver, brass and copper with stones and crystals.
I also like LARPing and participate in Viking reenactment and Historical reenactment events.

Re: Introduce Yourself!

Hi,
I am new to etsy :-) my name is Anika (the crafty Stichling). At the moment I am a biology phD student working on stickleback fish (in german: Stichling - hence the shop name).
I use crafting as a creative outlet for all kind of (university related) frustrations haha
The main material I work with is fabric...I started sewing about 8 years back, when I got into cosplaying and renaisance fairs.

Re: Introduce Yourself!

Greetings!

I'm Kayla, a jewelry maker, circus artist, and chauffeur to Sami the full size Halloween skeleton that lives in my car. I started making chainmail jewelry several years ago after taking a class at a Celtic festival and eventually transitioned into wire work. My mom has been a seamstress her entire life and together we make Girl In The Moon. I've always been a fan of spooky things growing up and that love only got stronger as I got older. In my early 20s I ran away and joined the circus. I now spend my time swinging in the air, eating fire, traveling, and making jewelry. My ultimate dream is to get an RV and travel North America performing and selling my art.

Re: Introduce Yourself!

Hello,
I started my etsy store about a month ago after flirting with the idea for a while. I've always haunted thrift stores, yard sales, stuff swaps and I often see clothes that I think are true finds and really gorgeous but 1. they are not my size 2. one can only have so many things before murmurs of "hoarder" are heard 3. it's not quite my particular fashion wheelhouse because I'm old and a picky bitch in certain ways. Sooo now I have a place to showcase these finds.
As for my shop's aesthetic; since I was a kid I loved dark, witchy things, stuff with skulls on it and general creepiness so, now that I am a Golden Girl of Gothiness at age none- of- your- damn -business, I can use my discerning eye to salvage gothic, witchy, horrobilly, dark pin-up, fetish fashion so that some weird, dark chick of today can give it a second life.
As for my personal lifestory- it's an oubliette, an abattoir - Look Away!
