How do you promote your website?

When it comes to your own website it can be difficult to be seen. So, I just wanted to start this thread so we can all share are tips and such on how we promote our sites!

For my site I look for blogs that offer free advertising space. I also use my personal blog and facebook page to notify people of shop updates.
Right now I am putting together a newsletter so I hope that will also add to my views :)

In the future when my promotional budget is larger I hope to do more.
...I also submit my site to free directories.

I did a Heartsy and used my website. I tweet and FB, and give out business cards. This is the first Christmas season with my website, so will be promoting at craft events and such.

i also use my blog, FB page, business cards, linkedin, twiter etc.. I have created an account for a mailing list but i've never had anyone sign up for it.. not that i have made too much of an effort except provide a link.

I have a holiday show in dec so maybe that will help.. i just started my website in sept so just getting started..

I sold out of vouchers on Heartsy. (150) The orders are mixed. Maybe half going over the voucher limit. The tough thing is I ship everything USPS priority, so the majority of the voucher price goes to shipping.

They expire Dec 8, so i am expecting a big 'order for Christmas' hit.

Linked is basically an online resume. You post your work and job history. They are starting to had more FB like features, such as status updates and such.

It's highly popular especially in the business world to find employees and employers, not so much in my line of work. Depending on your profile settings anyone or just your first connections can see it. It also creates a visible network for you so you see "radiuses" from you one step out, two steps and so on, and if you check a specific profile out it tells you if there are some close connections in between the two of you. I should update mine.

I don't think I'll join linkedin I'm pretty spread out as it is :) But, it is good info to know and spread!

And, in the future I may have to look at heartsy!

Lapido.. i too was hesitant about Linkedin.. seemed to white collar to me.. but there are many artist there too and a great community. I met a few art consultants there and have been getting some good advice too.. but I understand about the being spread to thin already part.. I too do not have much time to spend on there.. but it has brought many views to my etsy, website and blog as well as more FB likes and Twitter follows.

Really! I just got my first phone ever not to long ago and it is an android. I got it for the sole purpose of business, this sounds exciting!
When it comes out I hope you would share the info with us all!

Ladipo....right now it's in the Detroit, Chicago areas but I'm sure it's going to be everywhere soon.

I reluctantly joined linkedin and found it be good to get exposure. It is more business people, but I have found some interest and you can link them to youu website, blog etc. I have found it low upkeep, so it is a thought to keep in mind.
