Hello Everyone! Looking for Opinions

I just joined this team ( i didn't know there was such a thing until today!)
but I was just hoping you guys could check out my website and give me some feedback!
Still getting organized and changing some things around, but your opinions would be great.

Re: Hello Everyone! Looking for Opinions

Hi & welcome to the team....

Couple of things stand out immediately
- the background very much interferes with everything on the page above it, especially the print (and being of a similar color)
- the use of ALL CAPITALS can be very annoying. Like shouting. Don't need it.
-The words on the homepage (artwork, jewelry, etc.) should be links.
- the pictures on teh artwork page are too small. There should be a way to see them larger.
- need some indication of how much the art is and where they can be bought
- school work gives the impression that you are a student, not a serious artist. Choose one or the other.

I realize this is a free website and the tools you have may be limited. Take a look around at other artists' websites. Best way to learn.

Re: Hello Everyone! Looking for Opinions

Hi!

Your homepage is very intense, it hurts my eyes to try and focus and see the words between the bright pink words in the background. And, some of the letters of a few words are unreadable because they are the same color of the background words.

I think that you could use a banner like the one that you use in your etsy shop for your site header. It will keep both sites cohesive.

Like Barry Doherty said, ALL caps can really feel aggressive to the average person reading your page and can become somewhat tiring.

You only have about 10 seconds to really draw in your viewer in and you sell jewelry, a very saturated field, but you don't have any images of your work on the front page. I would like to see some just to get me drawn in!

As for your other pages, I feel it would be easier to view and search around if the background wasn't so busy :)

Re: Hello Everyone! Looking for Opinions

Looking better... Don''t forget the capitals.

You could also think about writing a paragraph about who you are and what you do, what media you use, etc. Maybe a couple of paragraphs. But keep it short.

As Ladipo says you have about 10 seconds to tell someone why they are there, why they should stay and what they will get out of exploring further. All lists and no text seems like a machine gun. Not a user-friendly approach.

Look at other artist websites and see what you like or don't like about them. This whole thing take time, so be patient and don't give up.
