Camera/lens recommendations

We are looking to upgrade our equipment to DSLR and would like suggestions. Parameters include being able to do some nicely focused close ups of small objects as well as larger objects such as trays, hats on mannequin head, tea sets, etcetera. I am thinking a couple of lenses maybe, no digital zoom. I have killed 2 cameras with digital zoom and am working on a third. Equipment doesn't have to be the most expensive on the market. I shoot mostly in a light box. I am very familiar with film SLR cameras and would like some old school functions. We don't want to spend over a grand. Thoughts?

Thanks!

Lisa

Re: Camera/lens recommendations

Don't know if you've made the big purchase yet, but I figured others might see your post and want an answer too.

Any Canon camera in the Rebel line (T5i, T3i, SL1) would suit your needs. I'd suggest a 50mm f/1.8 lens to start with. It's a great lens and super affordable.

If for some reason you're a Nikon person (it's like being a cat or dog person), Nikon D5100, D5200, D3100, or D3200 are basically the Nikon equivalent to the Canon Rebels. Again I would suggest a 50mm to start with.

I personally use Canon, but I also use Nikons at work. Either will get the job done.

Hope this helps people!

Re: Camera/lens recommendations

I have a Nikon D3100 and I love it. As Sweet Jubilee said, I've used Cannons as well and both the Cannon and Nikon cameras work well!
