Re: Avoid These Product Copy Mistakes

More great tips! This one has been something I've struggled with as most things I read about Etsy says you should use as many keywords in the title as possible. I hated doing this as it seemed impossible to know what was actually for sale by looking at the title!

Now I have my week's work cut out going and changing my titles to simple, but easy to understand, wording. I'm so glad I feel affirmed in doing what I thought I should be doing. Thank you again!

(Tried to leave comment on blog but wouldn't work for me.)

Hi Sheila

I have tested it and loading up the title with strings of tags does not make a difference in Etsy search results.

Re: Avoid These Product Copy Mistakes

Makes sense, Sheila and Gail! I always wondered about this.
I changed a lot from when my Etsy shop first opened to present day. Still have a lot of work to do in my shop in the days and weeks ahead.

Lots of great advice here! :-)

Thank you, Gail!

Sheila, you perfecty expressed what I think!
It will take some time but I'll go and check/change my titles.
Thanks Gail :)

Re: Avoid These Product Copy Mistakes

Good tips here Gail and some things I've thought myself, so nice to see someone more experienced backing these up.

Thank you!

Re: Avoid These Product Copy Mistakes

Yes, yes, yes! Indeed often I saw some listing titles full of repeating keywords which just confused me, whether should I keep the title with the name of the product (let say, Hello there - greeting card), or should join their bandwagon to ensure the "keywords-filled" listing title (hello card, friendship card, all occasion card etc) will get more click :)

Thanks for clarifying it!

Re: Avoid These Product Copy Mistakes

Yes, why wouldn't they? People are desperate for original art for their home, offices and businesses.

I remember I bought a really cool art print one time at a very popular online art shop only to see it hanging in a McDonald's a few months later. Didn't feel so great about it anymore.

Thanks, Gail. I am glad a professional has tested and given an opinion on this. Changing my titles and great blog!

Re: Avoid These Product Copy Mistakes

I really appreciate the info here. I'm a newer member and I feel like I struggle the most with my product descriptions. I felt like they should be shorter, however, the little insights on the right hand side of the screen when you're setting up a listing make it feel like you need to add so much information.

Thank you so much for the article!
