I was wondering if anyone would be interested in getting together for coffee or wine or dinner to gab, share ideas, etc. I was also thinking it would be a lot of fun to do a group work event. I know some crafts might not be portable, so it might not be possible, but thought I would just throw it out there to see what every one thinks.

Part of the problem I think is that when a new comment or thread is posted there are no notifications. I thing I did find though is that we can subscribe to a digest which gives you updates via email at the end of the day if there are new comments or threads started.

I'd be down for some kind of outing, but I'm painfully shy in person so you'd probably think me incredibly odd and wonder why I looked so spaced the entire while. ;p

But yeah, I'm doing my class Open House at Michaels in C'burg tomorrow from 1-3 if you're out and about and want to stop by and say hi. Just tell me you're from the group and I'll be like "oooooh neato!"

No demos today (boring lol) but I'll be trying to promote our jewelry classes, which, long story short, are just starting up again. Mostly really basic ones right now, like crimping, stringing and fundamentals of wire wrap. I want to get some dapping, stamping and maybe soldering and even chainmaille classes started at some point. We'll see!

I hear that. I sit at home WAY too much watching Spongebob. ;p

I've been trying to decide if I want to learn dapping/metal stamping. I'm always looking for something new to learn that would fit nicely into my "shop". lol. Maybe if I ever get back in the working world I might get a few starter supplies. lol.

Yeah, I spend too much time browsing Youtube crafting vids. ;p

The thing about dapping/stamping is that the tools are pretty insanely expensive and you need more than you'd think to start experimenting, like all the letter stamps and hammers and blocks.

I've been collecting metal working supplies for about 7 year and have a HUGE tub of them, but I'm still not ready. And I work 2 jobs, but they're both part time with very few hours so my tool collection has kinda' come to a halt. And don't get me started about current silver prices. I used to get a troy ounce of 20g ss hh wire for like $22 and now it's more like $50+. Makes me cry a little inside. lol

There was a short time earlier this year where i think I single handedly kept Michaels open. lol. I swear I was there every day buy beads or something.

I do have to kick myself though because my G'father was a jeweler and he had a crap ton of jewelry making stuff. It was all sold at their estate sale last year. But then again, I wasn't really all hey...I'm going to make stuff and try and sell it back then, lol... I'll just stick with the "things always happen the way they do for a reason" philosophy. ;)

I wish I could too. Lots of tools, gemstones, settings, etc. Ah well...it's all good.

Sorry to hear that the open house was slow. Hopefully they'll let you do some things that will maybe bring in a different sort of group that might not normally be targeted.

I'm off work for the day, and am gonna' work on finishing a few custom orders and get those sent out. Then I'm gonna' work on my shop some more. Still needs further tweaking from the merge.
